Since I'm taking a lot of pictures during my father's 355 major, might as well share a few :)

These headers were replaced under warranty (with new catalytic converters) with around 8,000 miles on the odometer in 2003, car currently has just over 17k (yup, went the full five years). I cut apart the heat shields, removed the air pump lines in preparation of having them coated by Swain Technologies.
A local speed shop that specializes in custom turbo applications is currently making a set of high flow cats and a replacement secondary cat pipe (without any cats). Eventually test pipes will be installed to replace the high flows. That will come later when we dyno test the various configurations.

So far the only surprise is the electric water pump in the nose appears to be leaking.

man, those headers are ugly when the heat shield is pulled away to expose the insulation material!

    Thanks for the pics.

I like that protective tape on your car. Can you post what it is and where to get it? I have seen carpet tape to protect carpet but you can't use it on hard surfaces because it leaves a residue on hard but does not on carpet...weird.

Does anyone know if that header insulation is for heat noise reduction or both?

Glad you guys like the pictures. I get a bit trigger happy during projects. :)

    http://www.uline.com/BL_6408/Glass-Protection-Tape?keywords=glass%2520protect

I "discovered" this stuff at the local speed shop. They had a freshly painted car covered from bumper to bumper during the duration of the project (couple of weeks). Works great.

No signs of any holes or soft spots that I could find. With the headers coated and a free flowing CAT (or no cat at all) I'm positive these headers will hold up.

I am adding some additional heat shields to areas like the alternator, motor mounts etc.. just to be safe.

Plan A was to hang them on the wall, I have a hard time throwing away parts from a Ferrari :D
I'll probably save the heat shields too :p

In other words, I have no plans for them.

Yes I did, thank you. An awesome part!!

This engine needs more billet aluminum under the hood.

I also received the alternator upgrade parts. I'll attempt to throw together a how-to on that process. My searching did not pull up one already posted.

Look forward to seeing the dyno configurations between the cats and test pipes.

Great thread and thank you for the pictures.

In post #17, what is the material you used to heat shiels the motor mount?
    Naive minds want to know!
    Thanks.

I have heard of people using suran wrap - not the one that you use to wrap lunch sandwiches, but the industrial wrap that use to wrap and hold boxes on a skid.

Did you get rid of the entire "AIR INJECTION DEVICE"? From what I understand air pumped to the headers is purely for emissions & has no other value. If so I'm interested in doing the same.
