Cool. I spoke with Carla and she will mobilize her troops. We'll have some Ferraris, so I'm expecting a nice turnout of exotics. Weather is my only worry at this point. Given the lousy summer we had so far.
Looks great, but I will not ba able to attend. On the 15th we will be in Verona and then on our way to Lake Como.
Not this trip. We we have packed much into 12 days: Rome, Assisi, Siena, Florence, Venice, Verona, Lake Como, Milan, then back to Rome and on to Naples, Pompei, Sorrento and Capri.
Wow that's an intensive 12 days. This is the kind of trip I would normally do over 3 or 4 different vacation periods! You will undoubtedly enjoy all of it, I just hope you won't be overstretching yourself travelling from one place to the other and as a result fail to absorb the unique atmosphere of the places you visit, which require more time to be fully captured.
It is insanely intensive and not enough time at all. Just the kind of vacation Americans love to take. As a European I understand where you're coming from, however over the years I have grown accustomed to the American style of travel and do it now myself. Blitzing Europe in 7 days. Where are we today? It's Tuesday, so it must be Belgium. I have done a similar trip to Gerry's in under 10 days. It is all a matter of priorities. My nephew who is about 10 years younger than me, can't keep up with my pace through museums. He is still in the 2nd hall, while I'm already checking out at the gift shop...
This event is getting bigger: Two radio stations are most likely to join in this event and report live from it. Also it has now been opened up to all Italian cars including Maseratis, Alfas etc.
Too bad it's being held on the same date as the monterey show, I won't be back to Chicago until the next week
Ohh this is just down the street from me! Does anyone know if there might be an Enzo? I have yet to see one in person
You know, I see a lot of Maseratis on my commute to work (there's a black Granturismo S in Naperville, at least two dark blue Coupe/Gransport, a dark grey Coupe, a silver Spider, and at least two Quattroportes one of which I've seen on the "school run" at a local high school - now that beats the boring school mums in their Escalades ). However... I don't know any of these people! It's crazy, but despite Chicagoland being a hotbed of Maseratis, I've discovered that the Maserati Club does not even have a local chapter here. Strange, it seems that people in this area buy Maseratis the same way as they buy BMWs - nice cars for everyday use but the owners seem to have no special desire for club affiliation or to participate in events. I hope to be proven wrong on the 15th but so far I've never even seen a Maser at local track days and only one or two at local shows.
I know one that won't be there and the ex-owners initials are RC & AC. And RC had the audacity to call some of us poseurs (What say ye CG?)......they were just indicted on the 20th I believe. Their cars were confiscated months ago.
