Meanwhile Ive taken a look in the archives and some interesting things emerge. Here is a FIAMM battery as used by the LP400. There is a firm that can replicate these exactly. It all depends how far one wishes to go!

Evidence of the Britax belts with yellow logo I mentioned in an earlier post. 1120006 definitely had these, as I think did 1120004!

Here is an image of the engine bay of an LP400 taken when the car was merely months old and completely un-modified at that point...note how some of the clamps are black.

The interior of an almost-new LP400, re-affirming the correct radio. Note how the shift gate protrudes from the transmission tunnel. Dashboard was mouse-hair, and not suede (as we have seen in some recent restoration attempts).

Is it possible that there were some 400 early cars without a Radio, mine does not have one...was it that way from the factory or done at a latter day...
your thoughts..??

1120006, the very next chassis from 1120004, as owned by Walter Wolf in the summer of 1974, pictured here at the factory. You can just about see the top of the Britax belts, but I'm not sure if they were the standard three-point items, or 4-point harnesses.
Wolf used the latter type (4-points) in his Countachs but in 1120148, 1120202 and 1121002 he used Willans belts, as supplied to his F1 teams. Anyone have an interior shot of 1120006? Last edited by joe sackey; 07-24-2009 at 08:17 PM. |

As I said, the image was taken in the period (1975) when the car was a few months old. Here is another car with same window crank type. This is one of 2 types of window crank used on the LP400. The type you are thinking of was used intermittently in production, and more regularly towards the end of LP400 production in 1976, 1977 etc. |

This is the 2nd type of window crank used for the LP400. Alfa GTV used it too if memory serves. This was used more often later in production of the LP400. It was even used for the LP400S Series 1 and some LP400S Series 2 cars.
For the purpose of this thread, this type was NOT used on the early LP400 such as 1120004. Why 2 types? With Lamborghini in that era, it was often a case of which supplier's bills they had managed to pay! On other occasions it was a matter of what was available... |

Later cars: chrome (1120192, 1120204, 1120270) For the "mid-period" cars they obviously used what they could get. I.e.: black for 1120118 and chrome for 1120110 (Joe, can you confirm this detail of #110?) |

As I suggested, by the advent of the LP400S Series 2 cars and the LP400S Series 3 cars, the skinny black items were back in use!

Strange, 002 has a chrome window crank. And yes the chrome one is also used on early Alfa GTV, 116 chassis.

Quite possibly retro-fitted. It would be interesting to know the date of the images. At least, we have established there were 2 types for LP400 production.

But Joe, this is for sure the wrong one for the LP400 and LP400s, this is the unit used on F308/328 and from the LP5000s on and jalpa.
