This issue has been discussed many times but just want to share my experience with this problem. I had classic symptoms - car does not shift when is hot, first time happened on track day. I had 30 amp relay in my car.

So i decided to upgrade for 50 amp relay as first step. Together with my neighbour we took the bottom of 30 amp relay off and via wires we conected 50 amp unit. It took about 2 hours. I tried driving car, but after 30 miles transmission light came on again and problem was still there.

So i removed f1 pump - easy job with easy access, took me not even 1 hour. I brought the pump to local independent eletrical shop. They opened and told me that there was complete mess inside including some corrossion. They rebuilded the motor in 1 day for 70 usd!!!! I put it back in 1 hour and car shift like new. So i fixed my burned pump for about 100 usd including 50 amp relay upgrade!!!

So my advice - do not buy new F1 pump, its repairable just for penny, save your money ;)

Hope this helps someone in future......

A sweet result for what could have been a sour experience for you with that F1 problem. It is a concern when there is a problem and the car is 'not right'. Always great to hear about effective solutions that may also help or guide others with that issue! Thanks

    Peter,(Petr),

Long time no talk, David Johnston here. I have a question for you. I have just had my F1 light start to blink and it will not shift gears when this is happening. If I let the car either idle or sit for a minute it goes off and everything is fine. If I leave and accelerate quickly or hard, when I slow down it'll do it again.
When the light is Not blinking the car shifts fine and everything seems normal but when it comes on no shifting or if in neutral it won't go into gear until it stops flashing.
Was this similar to what you had happen to you? My pump works fine when i open the door and starts drives fine, after any real driving though every so often(5 minutes) the F1 light will start blinking again. Do you think that it could be the relay switch? What were the symptoms with your pump when it went out?

Although I am not a mechanic, I experienced something very similar and it turned out to be the F-1 pump dying. If the pump does not generate enough pressure, you can't change gears and the warning light will flash.

If you hook up the SD diagnostics and look at the pressure read outs, you might see the problem.

Also, as the pump starts to fail, the time to genereate sufficient pressure increases. So when you open the door, the time the pump runs gets longer. I noticed this but didn't make the connection and realize what was happening.

Did your local Ferrari shop do the job and how much was it?

I took it to a garage. But
there is a thread which describes how to
    change it yourself.

First make sure you know what is wrong.

I have been researching and talked to a mechanic at Ferrari Ft. Lauderdale and he said 99% the pump is going but to replace the relay as well. The fuse is fine as it starts and everything is fine until it gets heated up the starts to act up, ie: the F1 light will blink(meaning Low Pressure, pump starting to fail) and then wait two three minutes then the blinking will stop and works fine and it repeats itself. Very clear as any sensors would either be out or on. If the pump was fully out well that's obvious and if the fuse was blown or relay was completely fried again, obvious.
