IS this the end of ********** at the VCR ?

A represenitive of the landlord showed up @ 8:30 this morning at the 4 year old overcrowded gathering on Valley circle south of the 101 and ordered all of us to leave the premises. The LAPD cars 4 of them were present to ensure there were no problems with the represenitive of management telling us to leave. They said no one was violating any law since the lot was open to the public and many of the over 300 car owners were customers of VCR and other business located there.
20 % est of the carowners left and a person was said to be gathering vehicle liscense plate numbers for a possible injunction of some sort to keep us from gathering at the lot.
I think the problem has become acute since the unwritten dividiing line between the North part of the lot where ********** occurs and the south part of the lot where there is now no room for Vons Market CVS Drug etc customers has been broken as the event has become more popular especially with the Hot Rod Crowd in particular on the last Sunday of the month.
The event's popularity has once again outgrown it's parking lot just like Chrystal Cove and eventually the landlord will prevail even if he has to set up a booth with an attendent charging for parking on Sundays.
Does anyone know of a large parking lot preferably with Food and restrooms available Sunday Mornings ?
I think we need to find a place fast. I once proposed the area parallel to Van Nuys Airports runway on the West side of the Airport. Take Saticoy east past Hayvenhurst force turn Left onto (extension of ) Hayvenhurst Ave. There are several large Warehouses there with huge parking lots a lot of unrestricted street parking no noise problems except for the local jets taking off 50 yards away. Several Catering trucks could provide food and so if we just come up with someone who could provide Porta Potties it could be a spot for everyone to meet without hassles. It's not as convenient nor as close to the mountain roads as VCR but ???

I spoke with someone who spoke directly to the LAPD and the L.A. Sheriffs. Both agencies says there's nothing wrong and not much the landlord can do. I was also told very few people left but once again I wasn't there.

Btw, isn't your business in the location that you're trying to move the show to?

Asterisks are result of software filtering out certain names, websites or words.

The Calabasas Commons just up the road would be nice. Not too sure if the owner, Caruso Affiliated would go for it though. However, I understand the owner Rick Caruso is a car collector himself and he sponsors a car show each year at The Grove.

I hope a new place is found soon.

Agree, plus, we are customers of the shopping center, there is no time limit of how long we can take to drink a cup of coffee...

John , I spoke to the LAPD officers at the site this am

I was there and spoke directly to the officers as I wrote in the posting. You were not present so Please don't contradict what they told me. They stated they could not arrest anyone or order anyone to leave since it is a parking lot open to the public, they were merely there at the request of the landlord to protect the person ordering us to leave.
The fact that my business is located near the site I proposed is coincidental since most of the auto enthusiasts present are there to look at cars not rugs or furniture.
I don't believe you were part of the group of people that drove down to Chrystal Cove each Saturday until the Landlord decided it was interfering with his business and effectively closed down the venue to auto enthusiasts. This led to the establishment of Cars and Coffee at what was Ford"s parking lot near the Spectrum in OC. It can and now I think likely to happen here.
As I asked Does anyone have a drivein or ? that could accomodate the event, I think we will be looking for one soon !

Since you guys are all in the valley, you probably have not heard of Derelict Doughnuts in Huntington Beach. Find a doughnut or coffee shop with a large parking lot and ask the merchant if he would would like a few dozen new customers on a Saturday morning. Problem solved.

From what I understand Supercar Sunday was started by S4Dustin on here who owns Village Coffee Roaster, where the show is centered around. I'm sure if the show went somewhere else theres the possibility it would run into the same problem. It would take a large private property able to hold a meet, such as how Cars & Coffee is held at the Mazda headquarters, to not have to worry about being kicked out by the tenants of the property.

The problem is that on the last Sunday of the month you're looking at about 500+ cars. It has to be a pretty big lot. Apparently some of the store owners currently don't want "a few dozen new customers".

I'm not contradicting what they told you, just what a few told me.

Btw, I did go down to Crystal Cove on many occasions.

new spot

I remember going to a few BMW and other exotic meets at the Ralphs parking lot in Malibu, right over Las Virgenes. This is a shopping center, much like the El Camino one with lots of parking. Starbucks, Coogies, Malibu Yogurt, Bui sushi just to name a few would most likely appreciate the added business.
