Does anyone have pics to post of their cars? I believe Frank Mandarano has visited them on one of his tours? Opinions on their accuracy, and acceptability by the cognoscenti?
james....unless things have changed in argentina...pause...the pursang cars can only be called a"reasonable facimile" of bugatti built cars...for some reason they developed their own "dimensions" and the result is a difficulty in replacing parts that were not made by pursang. the brits -c&w, brinniton, boc club spares, etc had access to factory prints and actual bits so their stuff is interchangeable with factory built cars. high end shops [i won't name] that deal in bugs find the argentine cars frustrating and at least one will have nothing to do with them. however there is a following of sorts on the continent and guys with the pursang bugs will have events together..the cars are generally scorned by the "real" bug guys [heavy on the quotes] and seem to accept a car from a uk or french builder that has kissed the boc [bugatti owners club UK] fat white butt and has a "BCxxx" chassis plate. as far as the cars themselves, once sorted they give a reasonable bugatti experience...i think "sorted" is the operable word here. however there is nothing like the real deal...they are so choice..if you have the means, i highly recommend you pick one up.
May I just post right here that I support the Argentine effort (no matter how badly done in detail) - Nobody else has tried as hard to keep the legend alive. The fact that they missed a little on some of the micrometer stuff only shows to support the original legend itself. I, myself, would give about 100K to own one of their little 35B replicas and answer to the girls at the grocery store - no, it does not have a Volkswagen Engine in the back.
actually tim dutton in the Uk will build you one for not much more and it will be spot on...or, if you would like, c&g will build you an auto union..that will get the chicks!!!!
I as well am a big supporter of the Argentina effort. I spent several weeks in their shops and am very impressed by their operation. Their cars are built the way the originals were. I know the factory and its owners well and would be happy to offer insight to anyone interested in knowing more. For my money, Pur Sang is as good as it gets. John
I stumbled across an example of what must have been a Pur Sang Alfa 8C Monza in a clothing store here in NYC. The store / brand is Etiqueta Negra, very much an Argentine Polo style. Anyway, the Alfa looked very good. A few Bugatti alloy wheels around too and an Indian motorcycle replica in the window. If you're in NYC/ soho, it might be worthwhile to stop in to see what's in the 'showroom'. Also, while I was there, I picked up a copy of the book Alfa Romeo Argentina but they had the equally excellent Ferrari Argentina and Bugatti Argentina books too. I'd been uncertain about getting a copy for a few years but finding one in person made the difference.
Etiqueta Negra is one of Pur Sangs' sponsors. There are PS cars in all of their stores. Its a great way to see the cars up close. Too bad there aren't more stores in the U.S. The Indian was also built by PS. A reliable U.S. contact for factory direct info on Pur Sang products can be reached at 949.294.5719.
johnei, Thank you very much for your comments on our books. For those in the US interested in Etiqueta Negra, there is another store at the Aventura Mall in Miami. Kind regards. Cris.-

We are restoring a type 57 right now that was restored by a US "High end Bugatti restoration shop" that had shiny black paint over the grease and gravel caked on the pedal assy. under he floor. Are they the shop that doesn't like Pur Sang?
Melbourne yesterday a Pur Sang car. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Here are some photos I took at Pur Sang in 2008 showing the Alfa and the Bug in production. Note the details of that crankshaft and the 3 Alfas in production. The work is very impressive. Here are some photos of the Pur Sang Alfa 2.9 with delightful Touring body, which appeared at this year's Circuit des Remparts meeting at Angouleme in France where it was driven, I believe, by company president Leonidas Anadon Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I had forgotten about this thread - I am glad to see I posted on it years ago to support Pur Sang. We used to say "if man can make it, man can fix it"... Maybe we should say "if man can make it, man can make it again". I wonder if these cars will someday have their own special place in the market as "original Pur Sang replicas"?
I really have to give the PS guys great credit: first they PO all/most of the Bug fanatics in the world, then they get to work on PO'ing the Alfisti, along with the Maseratisti..... grande cojones! And BTW; the 'Touring' bodied 'Alfa' is stunning! Makes it very difficult to maintain ones intuitive dislike of 'replicas'......(if one suffered that way.....'-) what up dbw?
yo james..not much..daily driving a bug eye sprite [a real one] and..yawn.. building a repli*a t36 monoposto gp bug....hope things are going well up there...dbw

Simply awesome. Gorgeous. Here's my post from 2008, trying to trade my Ferrari 330 2+2 for one: http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=188942 I bought a house instead. And sold the 330. Now I need to replenish the warchest. The Pur Sang is on the short list... And I've already done an Ariel Atom (the only street legal one in Pennsylvania) so I'm crazy enough to actually do it! Matt
oh yeah..i am actually using a t35 front axle and full suspension all around so as not to be confused with the real thing.........camber? you betcha! [also alloy paddle wheels and real bug shocks..the photo you posted looks as if it has been to england...]
ahh......the 'leftover bits' eh? you learned well from the Brits......big block or small block? NA or aspirated? Oh; please be sure to leave enough room in the footwell for my shoe size.... just in case.....
