Smile Countach gauges 74-89

I am wanting a closer look at the Countach intrumentation details from early days thru end of production. Not really looking for too much pontification on these items, but rather the documentation in photo or PDF format. I am wanting to look at specifically the sender units for all these gages as well. I will start with a layout of the LP400 gages.

Anyone have Stewart Warner period catalogs in PDF or photo format?
What gage packages are in 5000+ series? close, meaningful photos please!

Thanks
Craig

Smile Example of Countach instrument data

Here is an example of a Stage III i find on Ebay. I am not concerned about a price discussion, but the OEM box is wonderful for possibly assigning a part number to the Stage III amp gage. Anybody got catalog pages to back this up? how about an instruction sheet or paperwork from the OEM package?

thanks
Craig

I will try & refrain from pontificating, meanwhile I offer up my humble contribution of these images.

But I do have a question myself: does anyone know if the gauge back-plate came in BOTH brushed aluminum and anodized silver, or just the latter?

Cars featured are 1121036 (top) and 1120086 (bottom).

Emilio, thank you very much! These are great photos.
Are there markings on the SW gage to indicate it's SW part number, date of manufacture or other data? Is there a box this came in to confirm any SW data? Is there an instruction sheet or data sheet with this?

Same question on the others you may have, please

Thank again for your photos

Joe, thank you for the photos and chassis numbers and please pontif all you like on this subject.
The thread goal is to share any data on the SW components for the early LP400, but maybe even more important , i need data on the later 5000+ models gauge packages.

Here is the LP400 sender set with Lamborghini part numbers. Is this picture correct?

thanks

Craig:

No idea if this pic is correct. In 25 years of Countach ownership I haven't had to get involved with sending units. Not yet anyway!

Smile Revision to Jaeger gauges occur in Countach?

When did the revision to Jaeger gauges occur in the Countach series?
I see 1979 LP400S1 #SN 112.1094 has a full set of Jaeger gauges.

Lamborghini rarely did a full revision even with major body changes, like they were using up pre fabricated panels, engines, upholstery, tires, wheels and the like. So my expectations would be that the gauge change from SW to Jaeger occurred earlier than the LP400S series.
Anyone own a virgin, late LP400?
thanks.

Here's the gauges as removed from 1120004, everything is correct as far as I know with the exception of the volt gauge, which was replaced with the turbo boost gauge. Part numbers are somewhat obscured but this is the mounting and wiring arrangement. Joe the panel is a very lightly brushed finish, almost looks like it wasn't completely finished, or maybe satin clearcoated? I am leaving it as it when we clean up the gauges.

Part numbers are 465cp - oil pressure, V266 (?) tach, 338CH - amp, 455J - fuel. I believe the circled numbers are date codes.

United speedometer service has a number of stage iii gauges and sending units in stock, all NOS, but the part numbers they gave me don't match these units, and since they didn't have the voltmeter I needed I didn't follow up further. Nice folks to work with though

Hope this helps...

ALL Countach LP400 have Stewart Warner Gauges.

The last Countach with Stewart Warner gauges was LP400S S1 1121054.

Thanks Joe, So all LP400 have, at least cosmetically, the same exact SW Stage III gauges and there was carryover to the early LP400S. Great info, thank you.

So what are details on the SW sending units for the oil pressure, temperature, fuel level?
Not you specifically Joe, everyone? Anyone got the SW catalog please? How about the thread adaptor? details, i mean size and material (function we know)?

You certainly do not need a Countach or be a working mechanic to provide this catalog, and certainly this SWII stuff was hot rod material of the era.

Thanks
Craig

Correct. Those first 27 'small gauges' LP400S S1 cars are very cherished amongst enthusiasts.

Just curious, are you helping restore a car, or documenting Countachs now?

I have all the original SW part numbers for instruments and senders.
Was going to post pics of all, BUT battery died in camera, wouldn't you know it, just when I needed it.

Smile Link to 2001 S-W catalog pdf online

found a pdf catalog online for reference. It appears to be a 2001 version from my quick math 1905+96 years.

The part numbers, dimensions and resistance specs are quite helpful for the SW gauges. Also the adapters to go from 1/8" to 14x1,5 are still common place at SW. Interesting to see British standard pipe threads as Japanese.

this file is about 6 meg -
http://www.instrumentsales.com/produ...alog-Email.pdf

It would be nice to have the 1974 Stewart Warner catalog in pdf. Anybody?
