Some years ago I saw in an event on Vila Real (Portugal) a Competition Daytona with the Swedish colors, Yellow and Blue. Anybody knows something from the history of this car? Regards.
I think you have seen s/n 13463, an in period conversion that belonged to Dutch collector Nico Koel for a long time and according to barchetta.cc was sold to F. Martins of Portugal in 1997.
Here're a few pictures I took of that car when it belonged to Koel. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Thanks Bigodino, Yes, I think is the same car, but now have some differences on the bonnet. I saw this photo today on the Caramulo website, 2006. http://www.museu-caramulo.net/ Barchetta say this is not a conversion from the factory but from the Swedish official representative from Ferrari. This car have some sport history in the past? Image Unavailable, Please Login
Ulf Boman was a factory trained mechanic who had a shop in Varberg in Sweden. After seeing a genuine Daytona Comp. in Cognac rally in France, he decided to build an exact conversion for himself. He sold his 275 GTB event car and imported a 365 GTB/4 13219 for this purpose. He bought many genuine parts from both factory & Chinetti. This was in 1976!!! Some time later - in 1979 - he converted 13463 for Jon Fast. 13463 had been imported as a used car from Switzerland by Sven Andersson. I have no idea what happened to Ulf Boman. He seems to have vanished into thin air around 1990. Nobody seems to know what happened. Best wishes, Kare
I'm not sure if the car that belonged to one of the Koel brothers is the same car as the one the OP is after. Here some pics of the Koel Daytona from the end of the eighties. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Hi, I'm from Portugal and I already saw this car once in a while on historic competitions such as Volta a Portugal, Vila Real, Rampa do caramulo and so on. Francisco Cruz Martins is a very sucessful lawyer and he onws a large car collection. One things everybody in the classic car scene in Portugal says, is that is home-office is on a round glass area where he can see all his collection. Actually his son is running at Spanish GT-Championship with a GT3 and he also made some England races. According to Daytona, I have to check my arquives. Meanwhile, I leave here some images of 13463 during 2007 Caramulo Motorfestival. My apologies, I clearly missed a post from Peter before posting my pics. I wouldn't imagine that Koel owned 2 different obviously very similar 'comp' Daytona's, so it would be the same car logically. I can still remember the sound it made at the end of the straight at Zandvoort!
KARE, I was at Cognac (French rallye Bugatti-Ferrari club organized) in 1976 with my 275GTB comp. and I befriend Ulf Boman there. I think he had a lightly prepared 365 GTB/4 (was-it #13219? it was red that day), and not a 275GTB. He locked-solid his differential on the Cognac airfield circuit, after driving like mad! I later bought his ex-Lola T.280 # HU1, but this another story...
I think Boman bought his 275 GTB (believed to have been 06899) around 1972 and was a frequent visitor of Cognac Rally in 1970's. I only know he sold the car in 1976, so maybe it was before Cognac Rally that year, not after. He then bought Daytona 13219 in Rome and may have entered with this car the 1976 edition of Cognac Rally. The car was then converted into a comp car and first registered in Sweden in July 1977. Best wishes, Kare
I found a picture of a Modelcar of a Daytona in Swedish coloure. Did any one know which Race and who was the driver ? Image Unavailable, Please Login
I think the best shot ever of this Daytona was used on the front-cover of the clubmagazine "Gli Amici della Ferrari" of the dutch Ferrari-club. I have found this picture later on the internet as an normal picture. After all this time i still love this pic!! . Image Unavailable, Please Login
Beautiful shot! Always loved the Comp Daytona but seeing it in that environment really puts it over the top. Thanks for posting it.

That's me driving the Daytona in the 1994 Tour de France; we won in 1993 and had start nr 1 for 1994. On snow with the wide wheels it was challenging!!! Great car, easy to drive and fast.......Henk Hoksbergen took care of it for some time, but during the Tour de France participations when I drove with Nico Koel it was Piet Roelofs who prepared and serviced the car. I think I drove the Daytona in the TdF in 1993, '94 and '95. (maybe also 1996??) There is anothe photo of two Racing Team Holland Daytona Gr IV's on the Mont Ventoux in front of the ski rentals, with borrowed ski's on the roof!
Hello H, Thank you for your comment on this picture! It is truly one of the best pictures i have seen of this car! Can imagine how difficult it must be to drive it with these wide wheels in those conditions... Btw , would love to see the picture with the ski's on the roof! Is/was it published in GadF? .
