A question from Thomas K. reminded me of research i started years ago, but dropped for lack of interest and resources.
What are the details on Miura condizionatore units - not the usual complaints about not working, but the actual details of each component of the vintage system. Not how to make it better, or replacement fans that would be best, or relocating the condensor. For example, what does the two knob control panel look like disassembled for a more complete understanding? What size is the dryer-Filter-receiver and what do the graphics on an OEM unit look like? 63.5 x 200? 2.5 x 8? Parker? Anybody actually work on this system? and document it? What is the purpose of the red plastic on the Borletti panel ? any help is great Craig Last edited by P400; 10-27-2009 at 01:47 PM. Reason: spelling of course |

Here is the early version of the parts diagram for identifing the condizionatore pieces. Not too many, but interesting to see it required a different dip stick. The early part numbers, no longer in use, wont mean anything (except to Jeff S.)
The controls and fascia panel are igonored as well, oh well. |

The amber plastic "light" on the control panel is a fake, as none of the factory a/c cars ever had a light socket assembly on the underside. Nor was there a hole or provision provided. The control plate on the right, with out the amber plastic are ones I have had made up, and although not technically correct, that is what I have used for years on my restored a/c cars.(artistic license!)

These questions are for everone- Most important - what is the exact size in metric of this piece o plastic? Length, width height? That little plastic always looked like faded red to me. With today electronics, probably should wire in an Led to light up when the compressor clutch is engaged..... Is there an Italian name for the amber color so we can be sure to get the right color of plastic to super glue on? :-) Miura madness Craig Last edited by P400; 10-27-2009 at 03:35 PM. I have no answers for you Craig, but I've always liked the "FREDDO" part, which I first saw in David's lp400.
Cheers, Freddo |

Freddo, you will have to install AC just for the control panel.
"You think i am cool now, vroom vroom, just wait till i twist this knob" Be cool Fred do i remember correctly that you have a Borletti system in a box, saved away? Craig |

Upholstered panel that covers the Borletti
On my car, this part is made of steel, covered with leather over a thin foam layer.
The Bertone number is stamped on the back-side. The shape is different for the one shown on your picture, meaning basically that part 1 & 2 are gathered in only one main smoother part ; part n°3 being quite similar. I have some picture of it somewhere... @+ Bruno ....also request a close up of the open end of the Borletti dash air unit? I did not realize there was a protrusion or tab on the knobs, requiring them to be aligned. The amber plastic is way bigger than i thought and also looks to set up to be a functioning indicator if there was a light fixture provided, but not for Miura. It looks like the amber plastic is weathered to opaque, but maybe original translucent like the rest? Is there any print or stamping on either rotary control ? Thank you for Miura madness Craig |

Miura Borletti AC plate details
Yes Craig, there are many making or stamping on the rotary switches. I have supersize pictures of them - but perhaps directly to your email adress in order not to overload the forum ?

Wow, a great drawing from Bruno on this tiny particolare! This is a huge file that i sized down for Fchat.
How about one of youse guys CNC a couple of these out on midnight shift? Just some scrap 1/8" orange translucent plastic. We'll get Joe to take his dashboard apart and trial one out! Any help here? Miura madness Craig |

anyone have any pictures and size dimensions (and perhaps capacity) on the evaporator? I'm looking into designing a custom evaporator solution in place of the heater core, and I wanted to do a size comparison between the evaporator I've got which fits, and the stock model which goes on the dash.
In case anyone is interested, the major expense on a solution at this point appears to be the special cover plate that houses the flywheel and transfer gears, and all the goodies in the engine. |

If you find suitable compressor drive, why not set aside the OEM right side dash components and just fab up whatever you need in this location, and leave the OEM heater in place? just my thoughts in early morning, no coffee yet Craig |

Here is one view of the Borletti A/C fan speed control switch from a vintage Miura air conditioning system. Anybody been this close before?
