regardless of your opinion of Classiche, an interesting video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TmvdZ8t71IE
Well, I liked it, thanks Bryan. Don't know what all the hoopla is on the program being bad or such. Like the vid. Program looks to have value also, even if expensive.
Best Christmas Card I've seen to date! Even Piero Ferrari, signing the certificates, impacts the validity of them and the car's history. I'm impressed, but it has to cost a bunch of Lira? Anyone have an idea on the costs? Ciao...Paolo
it is interesting that someone posted a comment on the youtube sight about 3 different "certification" dates for the same car being demonstrated in the documents piero is signing
It's a beautifully shot film, obviously made to impress. However, there are blatant mistakes, like Piero Ferrari signing the certificate for 3 different months for the same car (750 Monza 0572M): July (Juglio), September (Settembre), November (Novembre). Obviously this sequence is staged: see screenshots... Also if I'm not mistaken, 0572M belongs to Ferrari SPA as well... This film also raises questions like: Does the stamping of serial numbers make the item original?, the commitee who decides that an automobile is "certified": who are they? Does the signature of Piero Ferrari make the provenance of the automobile? etc... Linking this to the fake cars displayed at the Galleria (ex: a 250 California which is in fact a GTE): did Classiche somehow validate them to be on display? One can raise doubts about the seriousness of it all... In conclusion, this clip kind of resembles the Ferrari Classiche Department: looks great from the outside, but questionable (one need to read some threads in Fchat) if examined deeper. Hope I did not open a can of worms, but it pains me to see some of the practices of a Brand I admire so much... On a lighter note: maybe we could guess some of the cars shown there... I recognized the famous 350 CanAm 0860 (formerly 330 p4). Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Thanks Marcel. I love the white Europa (or is it an America?) with the light green roof and interior. Very classy.
It was (and me too ) at the Concorso D'Eleganza de la Villa D'Este in april! An excellent restauration, it deserves its Price!
Very sorry to disagree. For instance, Classiche installed a CHROMED horn inside the engine compartment. When I asked the factory people (at Villa d'Este April 2009, where the car was first shown after the restoration by Classiche) WHY the horn was chromed they answered "Because it was the car of the Princess". However, 0419 GT was sold new to Jacques Swaters who raced it, also with Olivier Gendebien in Belgium. Second owner was Leon Dernier. No Princess here........... I then said that I had never before seen a chromed horn in a Ferrari and they answered "It is mentioned on the build sheets". I do have copies of the build sheets for 0419 GT and there is NO mentioning of a chromed horn. Neither a horn is mentioned, nor chrome nor a chromed horn. And of the many thousand build sheets I have looked at in the past 35 years I have never ever seen a mentioning of a chromed horn. My photo of the 0419 GT engine compartment (taken at Villa d'Este April 2009) shows on top right the chromed horn. Today 0419 GT is owned by a very nice gentleman in Southern California. Thanks BrianP for posting. The music and its solemn pace has more than the air of "Restoring the Shroud of Turin" about it. As I watched it I couldn't help thinking, "...had they only taken that much care in building the originals..." I cannot wait to see the video of how they make Ferrari branded socks and T shirts. M
You don't have to be sorry! You are THE Specialist, and I'm just a 16-years-old passionate person! Thank you to rectifying me!
Sitting in the conference room, on the right side of Piero Ferrari are Marco Arrighi (now head of the Classiche Dept), Francesco Scaletti (engineer), Chris Vlahos (Technical Assistance). This video was probably produced in about April 2009. Marcel Massini
Dear Marcel. As always your very sharp eye and knowledge is a blessing for us enthusiasts. Thank you!

Here's a very nice slide show of her... http://www.carcollector.com/index.php/blog/car-collector-staff-blog/56/403.html
I agree, much of what Classiche does is excelent. If they wish to round out their reputation in a positive way, they should consider bringing on the likes of Marcel Massini, Michael Muller etc as consulants particularly regarding modifications to a car not done or recorded in the Ferrari files. just one man's opinion. tongascrew
I see some of the reasons for the prices they charges. A group of suits sitting around a conference table needed to approve a classification certificate. Interesting video. It would be nice to see some mechanics actually getting their hands dirty on some projects before the operating room type work takes place. just one man's opinion tongascrew
Not sure about the Classiche work (Fchat clients can elaborate more) but the video is definitely a "marketing" piece, nothing more.
The interesting thing to me was the shop itself and the workers wearing gloves. When Sal works on our cars he's careful but he doesn't wear gloves. Image Unavailable, Please Login
