Last week I visited the factory in Maranello and spotted a very nice 612 Scaglietti destined for the US-market, finished in Bianco Avus with a cuoio interior and a dark brown dash, polished Challenge wheels and mirrors. Quite a rare and very nice looking combination!

Anyone here on FerrariChat awaiting delivery of this car?

    Ciao,

    Lars T.

Yes, at least that´s how I describe it - they are shiny silver, just like those found on older Rolls-Royces and Jaguars, for example.

Pics? Yes, they will follow as soon as I can find time to find and resize them, probably within the next two or three days.

    Ciao,

    Lars T.

Is it weird that I can read almost any abbreviation and instantly figure out what it means?

    Err, should I say... IIWTICRAAAAIFOWIM?

How about the abbreviation for "Shop head initial technician, head evaluator of alphanumeric descriptions"?

Mirrors are ball polished, a paint technique. They look very nice that way. White late model Ferraris (308+) look great. Nice contrast with all the black trim.

Would have ordered yellow calipers if it were mine, but I guess the coming thing is silver. MovIt even offers nickel plated calipers on their brakes. Note the silver wheel centers, too.

So I can polish my mirrors?

Can I do that to the door handles?

I don't understand why they didnt polish the handles or match it to the mirrors. I think the single worst item in the 612 is the boring side mirror.

Funny - I noticed the center caps and calipers also - looking for new ideas

Doug- Ball polish is actually a paint treatment, so in theory you could actually ball-polish the whole car if you wanted.

Personally, I would rather have CF mirrors, but it is possible to ball polish mirrors. I actually made a bid on some CF 430 mirrors on E-Bay last week, but my bid ($3500) was not even enough to elicit a response. They wanted $6K.

That appears to be the EXACT car I spec'd for our dealership! I can't believe it took me this long to stumble upon this thread! I'm so glad it turned out well and everyone seems to like the combo...IMO, there's too many Black 612s for sale and I wanted to be a little different :)

I had originally spec'd the car with Yellow calipers but got cold feet, lol.

So are you guys ordering 612s for inventory? I thought 612s all had to have an end customer name attached?

I have two different bonafide clients interested in the car so I don't expect it to sit on the showroom.

Terry - I had no idea the mirrors for your car and a 430 were interchangeable. For some reason it seems like the ball polished will match the wheel and look great.

Derek - that is a beautiful spec, I am curious however if you thought about matching the door handles to the mirrors?

Derek- A beautiful car and you are correct, it will not take long to sell. Where did you get the idea for the ball-polished mirrors? That will definitely make it unique.

Doug- Not sure 430 mirrors will fit my car, so sort of breathed a sigh of relief when they did not accept. Beer and E-Bay do not mix well.

I believe what Don is saying is that an order has to be generated by a customer in order for a dealership to order the car. Hence there shouldn't be any new OTO's sitting unless the customer cancelled his order too late or backed out of the deal.

I never gave it a thought, I figured with the ball polished wheels, mirrors, center caps and aluminum calipers there was plenty of brightwork.
