Thanks to a lot of help from FChat'ers and a great seller (dstacy) I finally received my first Ferrari. It's Dave's (I still think of it that way) 1975 308GT4, all the way from Texas.

Now if only the transport company had delivered in one piece. So a quick question for others in the Seattle area--who would you go to to get a lower valence and grill reunited with the car? Carrier looks like they will make good, so I'll leave them unnamed until resolution.

I'll probably come out to the XXX this weekend anyway--in my RSX.

Well congrats and sorry to hear about (and see) the damage! That sucks and I know the feeling but you will love the car once you get it fixed I'm sure. Look forward to seeing it sometime!

A great buyer is more like it.

We're just stewards of these beauties. She lived under my care for a few years out of her 35+ years of life. I know she'll enjoy living under yours.

FoS recommends Queen City Auto Rebuild out by Redmond Town Center. I had my Carrera worked on by them and it took a long time and then I was less than happy with the paint (orange peel-y.) Others who know recommend Bel Red. I'm going to have them do my bumper in a couple weeks.

GT4s are great cars. You'll have a blast with that thing. Congratulations.

The valance is an easy fix but how on earth did they do it!?

Don't forget to get the " collector " plates, then you do not have to have a front plate! And only regester it once!

    Cheers!

Thanks for the advice, all. I've had some very successful work done at Bel Red as well, although on modern cars. FoS did indeed reccomend Queen City, in fact it made it sound like their body shop. Parts are going to be the key here I'm afraid.

That's a great looking GT4! It would be great to see them side-by-side. Great advice on the collector plate. Unfortunately I was weak and registered for the 308 GT4 vanity plate. So I guess I'll need a front plate. Maybe I'll fab something with Dutz fasteners or magnets...

    Anything new?

Also I thought you would like this, a quote from another thread refering to our GT4's...

"Overall, I was pleasantly surprised at how fun the car was to drive - ie very old school with a lot of character, especially being carburetted. Not trying to start a debate about the various models, but I have driven 328, 348, and 355's and I thought this car was more entertaining and fun - but that is probably me as I am reverting back to older technology as all the new stuff with paddle shifting, sophisticated fuel injection, etc. does not appeal to me!"

    Cheers!

That's what I used to like about my GTS with the top off on a nice Sunday morning in the hills around my place.
With a gutted airbox and the passenger window down the carbs would just howl!

Rescheduled visit to Queen City for Friday. I'm going to make a "vallence/grill" out of hardware cloth (wire mesh) for the trip across the lake. Should look pretty mean...

Maybe then I'll hear the music you describe. This delayed gratification business blows.

I think the right turn signal housing is broken (sigh)

Gregg this is VERY important. Get an extra pair of jeans and put them behind the passenger seat.

Start it up and let it idle in the drive for a bit until you get just a little temp reading on the gauge. Then head out. Take the city streets for 5 or 10 minutes until you see some oil temp. Once that needle comes up off the peg let her rip! Once you wipe that sh$it-eating grin off your face get those jeans from behind the seat. You're going to need them since you've crapped your pants but you're so pumped from your new ride that you haven't even noticed. :D

Still waiting on the estimate. Steve at Queen City is working hard to find a valance, but...I bought some Eastwood rust converter, encapsulator and topcoat online last night. I plan to clean up the rust around the battery area before the new bodywork goes on. Proabably an Optima as well.

    Cheers, Gregg

Sure seems like its taking a long time. You may have to look at a supplier overseas to find what your looking for. Keep us posted!

The problem is the valance. It is a US only part. The one installed in europe is different so no overseas supplier has it.

Dave's correct (of course) 4ferrarispares can make me a Euro short grill, but they have recesses for driving lights not found on the US version. Sigh.
