Totally personal choice. Are you more Jersey Shore or Masterpiece Theatre?

    Just kidding...

I struggled with the same issue when I bought my 308. In the end, my take was that if you are interested in bringing the car up to concours condition and maybe compete in car shows then I would leave the shields off to remain "authentic." Otherwise, feel free to do whatever suits you because either decision if going to be good. The photo below reveals my decision...

Got em on my Nero Metallic/Creme '85 308 QV as well. They were on the car when I got it, and I like it.

If you get them, go for the Yoshield ones. They are the best out there. My car was Yoshi's and they look great!!!

I like them and I have them on my 328,,,and just to be different I only have one on the drivers side and its metal...I dont ever intend on bringing my car to concours so that doesnt bother me....you will soon get an avalanche of people who dont like them as well..like others have stated its personal preference and its your car.

I personally don't like them at all but as noted, it's a personal choice. If you want 'em, stick 'em on there! ;)

    +3 on the personal choice.

My car came with the stick on ones ... they were off the next day. If I was going to put them on, I liked the F-Chatter that actually molded them into the fender. There is a thread that shows it somewhere. That's what they look like on the new cars when it's a factory option IIRC. Certainly that requires a bunch of work and kills the concours option, but I thought it looked very nice. Color of your car also makes a difference in my opinion. To each his own, certainly the magnetic or stickers allow you to change your mind.

    enjoy your ride ... Bob

So there you have it. Like many things in the 308 world you will see us offering multiple opinions. In the end if you put them on find some good ones (YoShields are great) and do it right. If you decide to leave it original, no worries. Most importantly get to know the car and drive it as much as possible. These "horses" do not do well sitting in a garage ignored. Have fun.

I'm with them ^^^^^^^. ;) They didn't come out with them. They represent race pedigree. ATEOTD each to their own.

It's your car... do with it as you please.

I attended a Ferrari event at Concorso Italiano years ago when they started the badge program and the speaker (factory sales VP of some ilk) said they would provide the badges (at a cost) to any owner whose model of car had a racing history. I think this started as an option with the 355. There were many disgruntled owners at that event as they were told they could not get the badges as their cars were street cars with no racing heritage. They were more offended that the lowly 308 was approved under the program and their cars weren't...

I, personally, like them. I had mine "Frenched" into the fenders, so I am committed to them. Concours? Nope, but then I was never a concours kinda person. I go to car shows, I don't participate in them. When racing, the factory would hack and cut, add to, remove from, alter, etc.... these cars in any way that made them better or faster. I like the racer mindset more than the concours approach. But, I do respect folks who painstakingly maintain originality.

But again, YOUR car... YOUR choice. Don't listen to any of us clowns.

Mike, I love that pic. It's one of my two all time favorite 308 pics. Here's the other that I stole from somewhere on here.

Oh, I vote no for the shields. I have an irrational fear of being 'that guy' with the Ferrari hat, shirt, shoes, tattoo, and shields. I'll do anything to avoid it.

    Rick,

I knew someone had "frenched" (the proper term for what you did) in a set. I think it looks great on "your" car. If I ever get around to a repaint, I'd certainly consider doing it that way. I'm just not much for stickers.

If anybody had gotten near my 1978 308 GTS with a pair of shields, I would have gutted him. But then, I sold the car 27 years ago and times have changed.

Whatever makes you happy. They now look great to me with and without shields.
