I'm looking now. Probably winter or early next year will be a reasonable time to buy.

I agree from a wholesale standpoint, but many are still listed out there are 250-265. I doubt they are going to hold at those numbers, especially considering the quite large supply sitting out there.

Great car for 177k, hope this trend continues into the winter with asking prices coming down into this range on ebay. Should also somewhat close the gap between 430 and 360 asking prices.

Would it be safe to assume that '09 Scud wholesale prices are low $200K?

Perfect all you guys have to do now is get your wholesale license so you can pay that much. Otherwise you are stuck with the 215-230k asking that the 08's with that mileage are asking. $177k wholesale doesn't even allow that dealer a 20% markup if they charge 210k. That's a big investment you better hope for more turn on your money to pay your bills.

Scud Inventory not much different than 16m's. Last I was told there are 34 plus of those for sale?

LFSC was ASKING $199K on a 6700 mile '08. Retail WILL definately be below $200K on all Scud coupes in the not too distant future. What's the surprise anyway, at $300K plus MSRP that represents only a 35-40% depreciation over 2-3 years. Better than most other high end marques.

I agree on depreciation just get tired of people comparing wholesale to retail. Is no one in the country supposed to make money except the guys buying these cars? I just feel sorry for the guys that paid over msrp on them. Large hits to them for sure.

There's an 08 Scud right near me with ~1800 miles, loaded. Asking is 219. You mean to tell me you couldn't walk in there with 195k cash and buy that car?

But that's cars. I overpaid for my CS. Am I going to stop buying cars? Heck no. Just move on to the next toy. But as a buyer, you want to try to limit your losses as much as possible. Just happens to be a great time to buy- basically anything- homes, cars, etc.

try it! you just sold your CS correct? See what they say.

Two kinds of dealers. Cash owned inventory and bank owned inventory you might be dealing with. If the bank owns the inventory and the dealer is only responsible for interest on the 200k than they can wait a year and not care if they sell it. If it's a cash/dealer owned inventory they might be more willing to dump 10% off the top to get the cash back in the bank so they can buy other cars.

Most dealerships are bank owned inventory. Dealer wholesales a car for 177k as the example above. Puts their mandatory 10% into it and has a $160k note to their bank at 6% possibly. At $9600 bucks for a full year of interest on that note why not sit around and wait. They sell it for 220k in 6 months. They pay off the bank $160k, Interest $5k, Recoupe their 10% into their account $18k and have $37,000 bucks to pay their salesman. What have they lost? The use of $18k for 6 months. They've used the bank and tripled their ($18k) money in 6 months. Good use of cash imho.

So the short answer is I don't think they will take the 195k.

    my 2 cents

Best bet would be to wait until the 458 replacement starts rolling out........I'm sure Scuds will be under 100k by then. Damn good buy at that point I'd say.

This is interesting. Well the Scud by me is not my color. But the above assumes that someone will want to buy it in 6 months and still want to pay 220k. The "asset" is in depreciation mode, so depending on inventory, it may make better sense to have the bird in hand, and take a lesser offer. I don't know. We will see as I shop. I will keep everyone posted. More importantly- I hope to be posting pics of my next ride:)

I think he meant the number of cars on the used market, not the total production numbers.

    The long way home
I'm not sure if you were being serious or not, but these posts always get me.

Sure, you could wait until the 458 replacement comes out, in 4-5 years and get a Scud for around $100k (maybe)... that's roughly 20k/year.

But that's also 4-5 years of not driving a Scud, of putting off dreams. There's a point if the current prices are just out of reach; that's reasonable. But I can't see a rational reason to wait out a purchase like this if they are otherwise financially capable. Life's short.

Maybe in Canada. Not in the US. Sorry, that's not reality. You have a Scud- enjoy it and don't worry about the value.
