My f430 OEM headers are broken!what aftermarket headers do you suggest guys?
They are not still covered under warranty?? What year is your F430?? This is pretty sad, I bet he doesn't have over 10k miles on the car in any event and to have broken headers is crazy!!
kosf430 - sorry to hear about your factory headers (exhaust manifolds.) Ferrari had this problem with the 355, the 360 and now apparently the 430. The first owner of my 355 had to replace both manifolds after 4 years and 13,000 miles. The car is now getting a Major service done at 39,000 miles and the manifolds needed to be replaced again. This time I used the rebuilt manifolds offered by Ricambi America. Basically they use all new tubing but re-use the factory manifold and collector. Anyways, good luck to you and I hope your next set of manifolds lasts forever!
What year is your car? I have a 07 and the warranty expires in Jan. Does anyone know how long F will replace the manifolds? Does it vary from state to state? I live in FL.
In the US they are covered for 7? years (Federal emissions). Looks like he's from Cypress so I have no idea what their laws are. That being said, If the Fabspeed 430 headers are anything like their 360 headers you will love them.
According to EPA regs, the only parts required to be warranteed for 8 years are 1. cats 2. ECUs and 3. OBDs. The rest are two. There is some discussion on the late 360 and 430 manifolds because they have pre cats. I have not heard anything definitive though. Some states may require longer warranties on their own. Mine were replaced under warranty. There is a new design and manufacturer, so hopefully ther problem is solved. Dave
If true re cats, its seems there is at least a good argument that headers with pre-cats are covered under the 8 yrs. I've heard that Ferrari is taking the position that aftermarket mufflers somehow cause or contribute to header failure, so those of you with aftermaret mufflers and still within the 8 yrs. should consider storing their stock mufflers in the garage to switch them back just in case. Personally, I think that so long as the mufflers were installed properly (with no strain/preload on the headers), aftermarket mufflers are no more the cause of header failure than the stock mufflers. But be aware that Ferrari may use that as an excuse to deny a warranty claim. Replacement OEM headers retail for around $12k a pair.
Actually, the pair sell for less than 1/4 that price. The F430 manifold update kits (specifically designed to address this problem) are deeply discounted by Ferrari in order to remedy the situation without handing the manifolds over to the after-market.
Thanks for straightening that out. I was thinking about 360s with the OEM pre-cats when I said that. Is there a similar deal for those?
@kosf430 - The same thing happened to my 430. I ended up going with the Capristo headers, and I couldn't be happier with the result. I felt a big difference between the OEM headers and the Capristos... Given that they aren't the cheapest headers out there, after all the research I did, they still appear to be the best choice to me. Also, there's a guy I ran into yesterday when I posted a thread about this new protective heat shield, who also has the Capristo headers. His name is Paul, and he has some photos and videos in one of his threads. There's links to those threads below... Hope this helps. http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=302720 http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=299344
The headers on any 430 should be covered under the 8yr/80K emissions warranty. I will find out next week when I take mine to FoW (yech!!) to get it checked out....seems pretty obvious that the headers are shot....the noise on start-up is astounding, and it's not coming from the exhausts. If Ferrari won't cover it, I'll take it up to Richard and Fernando and get aftermarket installed.
Still though its pretty impressive if you are having a problem with the factory headers that you can upgrade to the fabspeeds for $3500, 30hp gain on the top end. Plus lots of torque down low. Its a cheap upgrade for the performance gained. Image Unavailable, Please Login
For 2005 F430 coupe - Ferrari of Washington confirmed one of the headers was bad and replaced it under warranty w/o any problem. They had the parts and so took care of it in one day...no hassles or other issues. I am actually having them do a few other things for me as long as it's in there. Thanks to Terry for taking care of me. I wasn't too hopeful given other extremely negative and unpleasant dealings with the new owners, but so far this has been a good experience. Will report out on overall impressions once I pick up the car next week.
They only replaced one? I heard they were always to be done in pairs, i'm getting mine done as soon as my dealer gets the parts and they're replacing both. John
I was amazed that they only replaced one, but since the other side is covered until 2013, I think I'm OK with it. If the other side breaks, it's just another trip to the dealer, so not a big deal. I wasn't going to argue with them about it...what's the point?
You are lucky! My car is in the shop and the headers are backordered in Italy with no ETA. Hope I will get my car back before Christmas ...... 2005 F430 with 8600 miles.
Yeah, I was told it might be 2 months before mine come in. My car is in hibernation mode now though, so it doesn't really matter to me.
is your car at a Ferrari dealer or at your home? They told me cars that are down in a dealership have priority. But two month without my car would be very upsetting......
Mine is at home. It will be flatbedded to them once the headers arrive. It will start snowing here soon anyway so I don't really care how long it takes for them to arrive. Your situation would suck though! I feel for you brother.
