Meh, I like the side profile, but not so crazy about a lot of the other angles of the car. May just be me though.... PDG
They can make that car easily if they want to.. but they don't for tons of obvious reasons. Designing a car that looks awesome, taking nothing into considerations is quite easy actually.
More pictures here: http://www.autoblog.com/2010/06/08/angry-car-designer-dreams-up-a-ferrari-612-gto/ The side and rear profiles remind me too much of the Aston Martin One-77. I like the inlets on the hood though - a nice homage to the 250 GTO.
Stunning. If only Ferrari had the balls to make something like this...None of the major players have any 'design balls' anymore. Even Lambo seems to be playing it safe with the design on the new Murci replacement. I thought for sure they were going to do something revolutionary. If Ferrari actually made something like the car above I would be able to get excited about the marque again.
With so little imagination and so much incompetence in today's automotive design how is it that this guy is not heading up the design department for any major (or minor) auto manufacturer?
Better than a lot of designs I have seen. Has a prototype of this design been made or all photoshop. The music is crap.
I' like it a lot too. Does have the viper thing going on regarding headroom but other than that, if Ferrari made this, I would be asking about allocations for sure.
I was expecting a little more also but I think Lambo went over the top with the chassis and engine, which are both totally new platforms. I'm eager to drive the new Lambo.
If you're referring to the FF, I don't remember the GTO being a 4-seater. Maybe we should complain if the 599 replacement isn't as daring, but not the FF. BTW, that concept is littered across probably a dozen threads already, including various FF threads. In any case, the designers do have good ideas, they probably just don't translate well to normal proportions, meet safety and manufacturing requirements, as well as Ferrari's seeming reluctance to literal retro re-dos. As an example, here's a Pininfarina proposal for the 599 which was obviously not retained (credit: Pininfarina and Auto&Design magazine): Image Unavailable, Please Login
So much better. Back when I was in the character design business there was this one designer who was 'out there' and would constantly talk about how original his designs were...and they were. They were unlike anything anyone else was doing. Problem was, he didnt get a lot of work because it was too different and frankly, the designs werent very pleasing to the eye. One day while he was going on about how brilliant he was because his designs were so original I said, "You know, different doesnt necessarily make it good". And thats sort of how I see the argument against 'retro'. The reason retro works is because back then they were inventing auto design and with it came purity of form. Not that different than music. While there are thousands of ways to create chord progressions the majority of songs that most people find pleasing all use the same ~20 or so chord progressions. Because its what works best.
And speaking of music, if you can even call it that...Is there a reason that you feel it necessary to juxtapose that God awful ghetto rap crap with a picture of/discussions about Ferraris? No one but, perhaps, you wants to hear that Sh*t. Really.
I agree, but I do like its looks. I guess many think it's cool to be a 'Gangsta' these days; is it really even music or just someone talkin' to a beat? There's no real talent.
