I am looking for any info and photos on the 750 Monza that was driven by Jacques Bellesiles in races at Paramount Ranch, Santa Barbara and Pomona in 1957. I believe it was chassis #0582. Thanks.

My sincere thanks for the assistance. Are you aware of any images of the car? I have looked through some magazines from that period as well as online sources and have found nothing. The car seems to be a phantom...

    Phantom? Not at all!
Pix in color and really fantastic ones to be found in Tony Adriaensens' sensational book "Weekend Heroes".
Car is owned since almost 40 years by same owner.
Last seen August 1974 at Laguna Secs, painted red.

    Hello Marcel,
Small correction: the fourth Running Paramount Ranch Road Races were on June 16-17, not May 16 (Paramount Ranch Remembered by Art Evans 2006/ entry list)

It was advertised in the sunday LA Times, but when I got there Norm Thompson was closing the deal. He got quite a few years out of it in vintage racing, including a bad crash at Laguna Seca. All this was probably in the 60's. In the days before FML, a few of us would go out on saturday morning to buy the sunday Times, to try to beat the other vultures. There used to be a half-dozen or more F-cars advertised every week. 0118A was actually purchased by a pressman at the Times, before any of us got a crack at it. (Oops, another hijack!)

To further some of the hijack - as late as the mid '70 the Sunday Times always had decent listings for Ferraris available. Gerry didn't start FML until the end of the '70s or the very start of the 1980s.

That crash happened 10 August 1974 during the 1st Annual Monterey historic automobile races at Laguna Seca. This accident is reported on page 6 of the FOC USA magazine, issue September-October 1974.

I have been corresponding with Mr. Bellesiles over the past few days and he apparently lost all of his racing photos and memorabilia in the 1990s. He expressed a desire to see any photos, so if anyone can assist him contact me via PM.

I also find myself again regretting not buying Adriaensens "Weekend Heroes" when I first saw it at Monterey several years ago. Now copies are priced out of my budget. Any help would be appreciated, so PM me if posssible.

    Thanks.

    Tom

In my files I also have:

May 18, 1957 Raced at Santa Barbara preliminary race by Bellesiles, race #222, 14th
May 19, 1957 Raced at Santa Barbara main by Bellesiles, race #222, DNF

Correct? Since the Paramount Ranch Road Races were on June 16-17 instead of May 16 1957 there is not a conflict of dates.....

Bellesiles acquired the car from John von Neumann after the famous Jan 19-20 1957 Pomona race when the car was driven by Phil Hill in rain and flooding conditions. At that point the car was silver with a red stripe. Bellesiles changed the strip to black. Sorry no pictures. If you check the barchetta pages for 0582, Bellesiles had additional events in 1957 with this car other than what M.M. lists. I have not verified if these are correct. just one man's opinion tongascrew

I have corresponded with someone who has the Weekend Heroes book but he did not find any photos of 0582 as raced by Jacques Bellesiles bearing the number 222. My comment about the car being a phantom was only in reference to the period of Mr.Bellesiles ownership. Could you suggest any alternatives? Thanks.
