No 'Y' in Italian so it is the Daitona and thus the spider. The 'Y' is sort of an Americanization of the name. The Daytona Spyder was basically built for the USA market and just a few were sold elsewhere.
The 365 GTB/4 is the name of the model and Daytona is sort of a journalistic name for the model that stuck. One theory was that word leaked out that Ferrari would call the new model the Daytona and rather than be proven correct Ferrari dropped the name idea for that GTB model. The earlier model - 275 GTB/4 doesn't have a 'name' either.
