Very cool. These cars may be old crappy cars, but I really do love to look at them. The patina on the engine block made my day.

    Thx, Dale

Are you having the shield hand painted at this time? Did you make a decision regarding putting any numbers on the car?

    Looks wonderful.

I've got the easiest job in the world - all I have to do is look at the before/after pictures. Fantastic of Borrani to provide the documentation. What's the battle plan on the engine out service?

It's interesting to note the aux fuel tank and the markers on the dash at the
point of the normal gauge readings.

    Eric
Yes we'll paint on the shields but will for the time being leave off the #'s.

    Tom
After a good high speed run in New Orleans we wanted to repalce gaskets that had dried out and were leaking oil. Sal also wanted to check out and adjust everything basically a very major service. Nothing so far we didn't expect. She's in very good shape.

    Andrew
    Not yet but we will.

I dug through some of my old magazines at Christmas, and found the January 2003 issue of Classic Cars that has a feature article (5 pages) of 002C. I can scan a copy of it for you if you don't have it.

    Cheers,
    Erik

Will do. Gauges are in Modena for calibration. We have to replace a defective brake light switch. Machine new wheels for a touch of front brake clearance. She will be ready for high speed testing in the spring.

    Awlrighty HOT ROD!

Put some slicks on the back and -- "With my New York brim and my gold tooth displayed. Nobody give me trouble cause they know I got it made. I'm bad, I'm nationwide. Well I'm bad, bad, bad, bad, bad, I'm nationwide."

Seriously more shots of the engine would make my day. To me, this is art. I'm not going to be silly and say that it is better than a Picasso or whatever. But if I had a choice, I'd go for the car anyday.

    Play on, brother.

More, more, more of the casings and such cried the crowd!

Jim, I'd love to find out some more about the history of 002C. I assume that it was raced at some point. I'm guessing that it has had an interesting life. Can you recommend a good history writeup on this car?

    Thx

The R&T 50th had a big article on 002C which was close.
The best book I've found is "Origins Of The Ferrari Legend" by Gioachino Colombo.

002C won "Ferrari's first convincing victory, and revenge for the scorching defeat suffered two weeks earlier at the hands of the new Maserati A6-GCS of Ascari and Villoresi on the Modena Circuit." (The Grand Prix of Turin 1 oa Raymond Sommer)
    Columbo

    Mr Ferrari added:

"takes me back to the times when we had to sell our victorious cars in order to pay our workforce."

002C was the first car Mr. Ferrari sold.
He signed the Bill of Sale himself.

Impressive! I wish that I had taken more time to study the car in New Orleans. My only excuse was that I was distracted with lust for the Stradale, not a bad excuse as excuses go. I do want to commend you for driving this car (and the Lola) to the track. You are the Ferrari anti-thesis to Joni Mitchell's lament about how, "They cut down all the trees and put them in a tree museum."

    Thanks for sharing, Dale
