finally a dry day, took out the cs
Finally after what seems to be a month of rain (please refrain from the customary "you can drive them in rain you know" posts) I got to take out the CS. I have wanted to get over to Premier Motorsports to have Dave put on those front skid plates. I gave him a call at 10:30 AM and he as usual was very helpful. "come on down will take care of it while you wait." Well not only did they do a beautiful job on it, he also asked me if I would like him to bypass the butterfly on the exhaust. He said it makes the car sound the way it suppose to. WELL, WELL, WELL Now thats what im talking about!!! Please understand i only have 350 miles on car so i havent been able to use the rpm range above 5k so im assuming this is just a taste of what im in for...Cant wait.
Also noticed something strange, maybe other CS owners can help with. When driving with the window down small pebbles come into the cockpit, its the weirdest thing, never happened on my 360 but today TWO pebbles in the head...Yea I know keep the window up, But The SOUND IS TO INTOXICATING...may be just a fluke. |

Premier is great!
Congrats on your CS, MarkNKidz- I am very jealous! But I don't want "pebbles in the face" - hope you can figure that out :0)
I just had to chime in with major props to Dave and Roger at Premier- they have been very good to me over the years (even when Dave was over on Robertson before starting Premier), fixing a TR and a 328, and presently they will fix my 355 Spider if need be. Sorry to hijack your thread... but it was good to see they still have great customer service. Eric |

is'nt it just the difference between the challenge wheels and tyres? are they wider with a stickier compound than the normal 360 tyres? when i put competions on my 355, i started getting stones fly up too.

I took delivery of my BMW M3 (slightly used and mint) and it was the day after a heavy storm. I could not resist and did a mad dog run up Mt Baldy road.
I promptly picked up all the rocks deposited on the road from fast water and they flew up AROUND the fender, damaging paint in areas that you could never figure the rocks would get to. As if the rocks could follow a curve. After that I wait a few days after a heavy storm before I drive my f-cars. Too much junk on the road. |

I got a garage door opener in the forehead once but never a pebble in the cockpit - windows are always down.

Doods: bigger rocks are better rocks.
![]() Wattster: clearly you need to spend more time with the Dudester. Just as he likes his DP'96 at 53 deg F, he likes his ferrari days at 75 degF, 22-30% humidity, direct sunlight, between the hours of 10am and 2.12pm. Eccentric? Hardly... --Dan |

you guys are lucky at least after the rain stops you can drive you cars, here in the north-east we have roads covered with salt. It seems like we get an inch of snow and the municipalities dumps two inches of salt on the roads.

Word of advice: In bypassing the exhaust clapets I suppose all you are doing is unplugging the rubber hoses connected to them? If so that is fine BUT you should only do it once your engine (or rather cats) are hot. Otherwise you run the risk of damaging a cat as they will not heat up properly. 350 miles and all you have used is 5k???? Why???? I assure you that your car was driven harder than you will probably ever drive it before you ever got it. The tolerances in a modern and futhermore blueprinted engine are such that a traditional breaking in period of x000 miles is no longer necessary - it is almost to the contrary as it can make the engine "lazy" . What is important is to have scrubbed in your tyres, bedded in your brakes and have all the temps nice and warm before going for it. I took mine to the track at 800 kms. I've done 13000 now - never a day's trouble and a real flyer. I get stung on the cheek - at high speed!!!!!!!! |

i figured that if i bypassed the exhaust valve that it would also sound better when idling and low revs. wrong. it sounds like an old boat at idle and low revs. i immediately reconnected the bypass valve. i hope to never hear that awful boat-like sound again! i've known david freed for many years and he does a great job repairing and painting ferraris. but he's wrong on this one. the stradale sounds like crap when you bypass the exhaust valve. i love the sound of the stock exhaust when driving hard. if you want more volume that sounds good at idle and low revs then go with either the tubi NGT (about $5K) or one of the capristo exhausts (about $4K i think). between those two choices i prefer the tubi NGT. my advise is not to change the exhaust at this time. live with it and i think you will find that once you break in the car and get to hear the stock exhaust under a lod that you will love it. in the first couple months i owned my stradales i was leaning towards replacing the exhaust. but after a few thousand miles i decided that i'm very happy with the stock exhaust.
