Started to revive Gina's dormant heart this afternoon, and I'm sorry, but I just cannot contain my excitement. After ten weeks of stripping, cleaning, painting, servicing, repairing, polishing and spending ... she is now beginning the long road to, hopefully, a full recovery. She was pretty swift last year, but given how far out tolerances, clearances and setings were, she should be quite nippy this season. cheers, d Image Unavailable, Please Login
Dave At least it's been 'Orrible weather while it's been off the road so you haven't missed too much. Hope you get it ready soon and don't forget to take all the Bog paper out.......
Dave It always feels better when you start putting things back on.Looks a smart job that you are doing.Let me know if you need the cam lock tool. Steve
Dear Comrade F308 MAN, Now, that is just so very impressive indeed! With kind regards, 512 Tea Are - Tea Arse - Tear Arse
Hat's (or should that be heads) off to you Dave. I like to do a bit of work on my car myself, but am nowhere near your league.
dearest lee .... if tha' dunt get thi' @rse over 'ere 'n gi us an and, tha'll be walkin' to bloody france !
i know ginas' two previous owners ... and she has always been called Gina .... her name stems from the "G" on the ignition/charging warning lamp on the dashboard. Warm sunshine here on the island, water pump assembled and fitted, belt tensioners, likewise ... now on with the cams ... just "logged on" for the torque data. could be just three points this aft mr. h ? cheers, d sorry julian .... she is a 308 c/w carbs
Had a good day today ..... rebuilt and fitted water pump and belt tensioners .... cams and new belts fitted. Steve .... many thanks for the offer of the cam locks ..... the valve timing was way out, so i decided to remove the pulleys from the cams and start from scratch .... valve timing is now cock on. Early finish today .... 'er indoors needs feeding and watering. cheers, d Image Unavailable, Please Login
Seeing these picts has motivated me to do my own major engine out service. NOT I wish I had the skills............ it would be cool. Anyone want to give me their car to practice on? Good luck...... looks like fun
Dave you were missed today but you were there in spirit .... we all want to know when you're putting the 'sports' exhaust on Gina - make her sound like a propa girl !! Rick
thanks rick for the kind words (have I died ?) I have "um and ah'd" about a sport exhaust, but have always believed she should be kept as original as possible .... one of the reasons i bought gina, was that I simply prefer both the character and the most wonderful induction noise of the carburettors. If you checkout the pic below you will note the differring colours of the carb chokes at the end of "last season" ..... very soon the carbs should be accurately set up, once again. So, Im sorry Rick, but for the moment, I shall remain selfish and enjoy the music from within the cabin. cheers, d Image Unavailable, Please Login
todays progress (yawn, yawn, I hear) torqued up yesterdays stuff ..... changed two valve shims after re-check ... double checked yesterdays stuff ..... stripped, cleaned and re- built distributor advance system (before and after pics below) ..... radiator back in.
