i couldn't do it, i called the court, i had them change it back... i just can't deal with the new nickname: "Carbie"... ...just kidding! i just got back from the DMV; this worked out pretty well, actually, since i was due to renew later this year, anyway... The change on the license as well as the renewal was $45, total. DMV was the only place, so far, that i've had to pay to change my name... Sprint did it right in front of me; the mail i get from them will now read Carbon McCoy and, although they said it would probably kick in when this month's cycle was completed, Called ID is already picking it up as Carbon McCoy... i went to the bank on Friday... They also took care of it right there... i had to sign one thing and i was on my merry way... My total access Visa/ATM card should arrive this week; my current one will remain active until i activate the new one... In NY (apparently it's different from state to state), you only need go to the Post Office to obtain a Passport... To amend it, you just have to go back to the Post Office and get an amendment application from them, fill it out and mail that application along with your current Passport to the Passport Amendments Center... i already did that and i'm waiting for them to send me a new Passport... Although i probably should've included copies of the name-change order from the court, the application didn't require that and i didn't think of it at the time... No biggie, i have no international travel plans for the immediate future, anyway... Now i just need to call Social Security to see about getting a new social security card... Also, i received a "gift certificate" from Continental Airlines to use towards the next flight i take... That has my old name on it... i could call them and see if i can work it out over the phone (since i'm planning on purchasing tickets for August) but since the airport is so close to me, i'm thinking i'll just go down there and try to do it in person... So that seems to wrap it up... i've encountered no problems thus far and the only place i've actually had to pay to make the change was DMV (go figure)...
thanks for the update. just interesting to hear the process. p.s. - I still think you are trying to avoid a former girlfriend-gone-stalker. =D
Several people had asked me about the process and inquired as to what i would do once the name change was completed... These are the processes post-change and they're surprisingly easy/simple... Don't be scared, folks...! You, too, can have an ultra-cool name like Carbon McCoy...! LOL...
You get any reaction from all these people? I don't imagine they see many guys doing this ...outside the witness protection program.
i think, due to a level of professionalism, they don't comment on it... The woman at the bank was straight-faced the entire time... The woman at the DMV didn't say anything and she had to type it in manually, then confirm it with me so she definitely had a conscious knowledge of what it was... The guy at Sprint didn't say anything... The only reaction i've received has been from people that know me... Some think it's crazy, others think it's cool... It's those folks who HAVEN'T said anything- those folks i don't know, that i want to comment, though... i want to know what people who don't know me, think... i've been using it for several months now and i've had different reactions from people... Some people hear it as "Carmen" rather than Carbon... No biggie, a simple "No, Carbon, like Carbon copy...?" takes care of that... Other people, i've found, like to repeat it... Maybe they like, maybe they find it unusual, i don't know... As i'm talking to them (phone, email, whatever), they like to say it over and over... One guy on the phone yesterday addressed me just about everytime he spoke... It's amusing, it's new, it's original, it's what i wanted... i'm very happy with it... UPDATE: Just called our payroll company, had to make the change there, too... The girl who took the information (with whom i speak twice a month) had absolutely no reaction, whatsoever...
No... i'm still toiling over it... i don't want it to be Carbon... i want it to be NNO... Rob Guess (Beast) registered as NNO, though, just so i couldn't have that name... So now i'm stuck... i don't know what to go with... i really wanna change it already, too... Oh, another thing i forgot to mention... Only our payroll company and Sprint have requested copies of the order granted by the court... Everyone else just looked at the papers and gave them back without making copies...
I think it's great!!! The legend of Carbie Ferrari sounds ALOT better than the legend of Desi Ferresi! DL
Hey Carbon; I was just giving you sh-t about taking the name NNO. i can assure yourself that i do not have more than one name here on Ferrari Chat. Rob
So, NNO it is, eh Carbon? I guess the software had updated on all your posts, and I was searching for an "announcement." I wonder how long till people catch on... "McCoy, Carbon McCoy..." Ha!
JUST WHAT IN THE HELL IS GOING ON HERE???? CAN'T I EVEN LEAVE HERE FOR ONE DECADE WITHOUT SOMEONE TRYING TO STEAL MY IDENTITY? JEEEEEEZ. FERRUCIO DOESN'T HAVE THESE PROBLEMS!
I --yes me-- am the real NNO Ferrari here...You guys are all imposters. Dont forget the Scottish heritage behind the REAL NNO Ferrari... Aiy...
