    I am closing a deal to sell this car for a friend. Does anyone have any nice photos of the car from TDF and Le Mans 1962 or Sebring 1963 and Daytona in 1964 ?

    Here is a photo a buddy shot of me in the car last August in Monterey.

    Car was originaly red when it was an SSR Team Car but run by the SEFAC Ferrari with their drivers (Abate, Vacarella and Scarlatti.) Later painted for the 1st private owner Norinder in blue and yellow.

    Here are the race numbers if that helps:

    Le Mans 1962, race number 58 DNF

    Tour de France 1962, race number 160 DNF

    Sebring 1963, race number 26 5th OA

    Daytona 1964, race number 33 5Th OA

    The potential new owner would like to go back to one of the earlier race liveries and I wanted to give him some ideas.

    If anyone forwards photos, please let me know how to credit them properly.

    ....than he also needs to change the nose of the car in its rights shape (if I am correct the nose and maybe other parts of the car are not correct for this gto, built by ??)
    Otherwise it is a nice GTO. New owner will enjoy it as much as mr. Arnott.

    The body on the car was commission by Alagretti in 1976 and finished in 1977 after Rob's had a road accident with an Austin North of London. Rob's had the 1965 Drogo body replaced with a proper Series One copy.

    I have a slew of photos at eachof its early races in 1962. Nose, lights, grill were all modified from race to race, typical with the first ten or so GTOs till the more or less settled on a final set-up. The car even ran with a perspex "Bug Screen" in its first few races as you can see in the photo link you provided. This was something similar to what the SWBs were running the previous season.

    Of particular interest in comparing then and today, the total bills for the new body, and a full rebuild of the car by the Ferrari Factory were £4400! Try and duplicate the work today and you would cry.

    Was this the Team Rosebud car at Sebring '63?

    edit: Never mind...I just looked it up in Breslauer's book. The entrant was Republic of Argentina (!!). The Rosebud/Mecom car was driven by Ginther and Ireland. I was there....the first race I ever attended. My heart was in my throat for 12 solid hours!

    GTOs at Sebring in 1963:

    Mecom = 3987 GT = Penske/Pabst = 1st in class (4th over all)

    Scuderia Centro Sud = 3445 GT = Abate/Bordeu = 2nd in class (5th over all)

    Rosebud = 3589 GT= Ginther/Ireland = 3rd in class (6th over all)

    NART = 4219 GT = Bonnier/Cannon = 4th in class(?)

    Piper = 3767 GT = Piper/Cantrell = 5th in class(?)

    NART = 3223 GT = Hayes/Thiem = 6th in class(?)

    Plus Ferraris took 1st, 2nd and 3rd over all with 0810 (SEFAC), 0812 (SEFAC) and 0808 (NART)!

    You are correct. Mecom and Rosebud were two separate teams. Don't know how I missed that. The Rosebud (Tom O'Conner, I believe) car was the one donated to a high school, wasn't it?

    According to Breslauer's book the Abate car was entered by the Republic of Argentina. Centro Sud seems more likely as I didn't know Argentina was in the racing business.

    Found it (kind of easy as I only have 4 or 5 books on Ferrari): it is a Geoffrey Goddard photo found in "Ferrari" or Brian Laban (ISBN 0 8317 3212 1). Best wishes, Kare

    $3 - $5 mil. sounds about right... this one has a documented race history so expect the upper range.

    Does that mean the blue/yellow livery will have to go? That would be a shame IMHO. Please not another red Ferrari. Try talking him out of that?
