Thanks for the hint & link.
A real beautiful car and I know (yes, I`m an older dude) the ISO RIVOLTA. But didn`t knew about this very special one built for the old E. Fittipaldi (ex. F1 Lotus driver. Not sure if it was the "John Player Team Lotus" or the "Gold Leaf Team Lotus".

Wow, that must be the most expensive Lele on the planet. But it looks in fantastic condition. They are great 'Q' cars.

They made more than 5 Lele's. Probabaly 100-200, but that is just a guess. This is one of 5 with the Marlboro stickers all over it. The Fittipaldi connection makes it interesting but not worth more than 2 times a normal Lele. But thats just me. Iso originally made refrigeration equipment and then started making cars. Italian bodies with reliable simple american V8's. The Grifo is the most famous.

Edit :- Production of Iso Lele 1969-1974 317

Simon,
The add ( http://www.almereclassiccars.nl/info.asp?i=354 ) says:

Produced:
260 normals
20 sport edition
5 Marlboro edition.

Last 5 never for sale by factory, just made as present for special customers.
Seeing your add the Lele in Holland isn't to prizy!!
I know the seller very good, he is reliable and very honest.

I didn't want to suggest that you friend was asking too much. Just that it's top Iso money. It's a special edition, so an Iso collector would be interested. But if you are just looking for a Lele, then I'm sure 20-25,000euros is more like the best price. The one for 67,000euros is a joke. You can buy 2 Espadas or 4 Jensen Interceptors or 2 V8 Astons for that.

Still don't get the Fittipaldi connection. In the early seventies (in the days before Patrick Head when they did not design and build their own cars) ISO Rivolta was connected to the Williams Formula 1 team. That year the team was called Iso-Marlboro and the drivers of that team received a Lele as a company car. But in 1973 the official Williams drivers were Howden Ganley and Nanni Galli....

Simon,
No worry about suggesting. Michel Bresser is someone who is very known in the "classiccar world".
Because he is very well "into" I think he knows were he is talking about and I think he knows the prices. But I agree on you, it is only interesting for a real Iso collector.

I was just thinking about all those Porsches, Mercedes and jags, where are 1000's are made of, and mostly higher prices. Comparing to that this Iso is much exclusiver.

I always think of Iso a bit like Jensen. But they also don't fetch the money one might expect when compared to Aston Martin or Bristol for instance.

know about iso rivolta, but never heard of the lele. front kind of reminds me of the lamborghini jarama

i think there are more beautifull and exclusive cars available for that kind of money! but if this is your cup of tea, it must be a unique chance to buy one of this (very) limited edition

Roel: no, not really..... But I really like classic Italian cars in general and bought recently an excellent book on Rivolta ("ISO RIVOLTA THE MEN THE MACHINES" by Goodfellow).

Next to that, the seventies for me are the golden time of Formula 1 (Lotus with their John Player Specials, the rise of Williams and my favorite F1 cars of all time: Ferrari 312 B and B2).

Wink

If you're interested in it I would ask for proof.
And not just the word of a salesman.

Asking 38.000 Euros is not a sign you know about cars.
(I guess he likes it and wants to hold on to it a little longer)

It has been offered for sale before in Holland (newspaper: De Telegraaf).
Many years ago, for around 9.000 Euros.

It is a very rare car. With the marlboro badge or without it.
Finding one in real good condition is not easy and will be expensive.
I guess a good Lele will cost you 17.5 / 20K, a Marlboro 25 / 27.5K.
But you're free to pay more.......

It is true there are more exotic cars for these prices.
But buying and driving one are two different issues.
Nothing is cheaper to drive than an American V8 (minus fuel).
And the kids can come too.

I like the Lele. It is fast and different.
If you protect it against rust you can drive it everyday, everywhere, any distance.

(Try to find one with powersteering)
