i dont see how it is going to blow the doors off the 430..the 430 has been tested at 3.5 to 3.8 0-60 and sub 12 second quarter...and i bet the 430 will be faster around a track...but anyway, someone who is lucky enough to be either super wealthy or well connected enought to get a 430 doesnt give a rip about any vette....and i hope the z06 will have a better 6speed than the truck like, notch c6 tranny and better steering feel than the numb steering and handling feel of the c6....i have been promised a test drive for when the first z06 comes in by a good friend who owns a local chevy dealership..i will report on the drive , hopelfully with pics, when it happens...i hope they address the short comings of the c6 in the z06...there is more to sports car than just acceleration numbers..............

Actually, the numbers are similar with the 430 having a better top end and 0-100 is faster in the 430 as well. Yes, yes, it does cost another 100k or so but "its a ferrari"!!!! Z06 will be a great car, easily modded and cheap to run except for gas, but in the end they are very different vehicles and will appeal to different buyers. I'll wait a couple of years until they are in the 40's to get mine........

convertibles are great, but i think chevy wanted the extra body rigidity with all the extra hp and performance this car has....i love conv. but i also love a tight chassis also, and there has yet to be a conv. made that is as rigid as a coupe..i think we all need 2 sports cars, a conv. and a coupe!!!!

Hey Neighbor,

You are correct........ I read it on the Z06 website and due to the aluminum use they needed to keep the roof panel for rigidity. Still, I'd compromise with the removable top. I didn't need it to be a convertible.....See how easy going I am?

Almost every two seat car I prefer as a "open-top"

Are you going to go to the Polo event in the mid-atl. section?

$75,000? Great performance for the money, but I thought I would be still under $70k.

Great car, but I too thoguht it would be under 70K, im sure they wont have much trouble selling them for 75 though. Do you think they will sell it in a race version, like they had with the C5, i forget what it was called. It was a stirpped down car for racing in i think, SCCA?

I would rather have a Viper SRT 10 convertable. It does 0 to 60 in 4.0/3.9 and can do the 1/4 mile in mid 11s. It also looks better and is more exclusive.

i do like the srt looks, but the car is extremely unrefined and not easy to drive fast or handle the power properly....also, the c6 z06 will be significantly lighter and should handle much better and be faster on the track....i am not a fan of the exhaust note of the srt.... ..many of the american car mags gave the nod to the old c5 z06 over the srt 10 even though it was slower because of its better balance as a everyday driver

Numb steering and shifter problems:

Get rid of the massive toe in that the car has and replace the shifter if you don't like it. Hell of alot cheaper than fixing valve guides, headers and interiors.

That being said I'm a fan of both makes. The Z06 looks to be an stunning car.

it will blow the doors off the 430, because even if it is just a tick slower, its 100k cheaper. and im sure maintenence will be a lot cheaper too. dont get me wrong, ferraris are nice cars, but i dont ever plan on owning one. i'd much rather have the vetter, besides, i love the sound of a nice american v8.

Hopefully, the Chapter 11 Trustee will convince the Bankruptcy Court to allow the Z06 production to continue while GM reorganizes or is sold to Toyota.
