June 26 Mosport Vintage Racing Pictures!!!

    We'll here they are. The cars were great. There was literally only 2 Ferrari's and a Blue Gallardo with bing'd wheels that showed up later in the day (The Gallardo Lucas Photograped to death LOL).

    It was a great day watching good old fashion racing. It was very "grass root's" type racing such as old school MGB's, Lola's, TR3's and a wiked pair of BMW M1's and more. It was no where as prestigeous as our friends over at Tremblant this weekend. But it was awesome nonetheless.

    Hope you enjoy. I burnt my face off in the sun....it was worth it. I made the trip up on a mptorcycle.

    Great shots. Yes its a treat to see all the cars with Lucas electrics running ;) I too liked that black M1. Thanks Vasco for taking the time to post these shots. Do you make the trip down to LimeRock for the vintage event in early September?

    Limerock? Never been but hopefully one day. It must be amazing. Thank you guys for the compliments. I agree, the M1 was a show stopper! The sound it made was unbelievable! Unfortunately it lost the race on the last lap to that damn old corvette with the picnic table spoiler on the rear. Too bad the other M1 didnt run either.

    The Blue Gallardo is mine so is the BASF M1.I was supposed to race all weekend but ran into some health problems.Sorry.Next year

    Hi Vasco

    Pat and I were there on Sunday with our 308GT4. We didn't join the Car Show however. I intend to next year, it's time a Ferrari showed on the track during the lunch parade.

    For those who didn't attend, this ahas to be one of the most enjoyable racing events. At only $20 pp, it is also affordable. You get access to everywhere in the pits, can talk to anyone.
    Bring a picnic basket, make it a day.....

    Great pics! The purple & white Volvo turned up last October at the Sick Kids track day at Mosport. It was giving rides to people all day - man, can it fly! And it makes the most unbelievable sound - for a Volvo!

    BMWRacer, sorry to hear you didnt run. You have beautiful cars. I assume you and the owner of the black M1 were together since you were sharing the same pit space etc. I have always loved the BMW M1. It is a a huge part of BMW's race history. Especially being BMW's first "M" and paving the way for further M cars.

    Would you be able to share the history of the 2 M1's I saw Sunday? They are obviously ex-race cars. If those cars could only talk.

    The 2 M1s that you saw are the only 2 procars in Canada.BMW manufactured 447 M1s,400 street cars and 47 procars.
    The black car ran in the IMSA SERIES in the early eighties and was quite successful druing that time.It is now back in Canada and is owned my Marcus Glarner whose name is also on the windshield banner.He is also my friend and my mechanic.
    The red car,which is mine is the BASF car,just in case you didn't guess it.
    It ran in the procar series in Europe and is the only procar to have won a major international race,the 1000k of Nurburgring.

    WOW. Sometimes hearing about the racing history of such cars is almost as exciting as watching them. First time I have seen them run in person. And let me tell you I have never heard such a sound. Awesome. The engine is the 6 cyl right? That engine was then used as the base for the M6, 635 etc. Correct?

    The engine in the M1 is a straight six where in the the M5 and M6 subsequently it became an incline six.The engine in very similar and very different at the same time but you are right,it is basically the precursor to the M motors.
    The street car has 277hp,the race car 470hp.

    Really? What's happening there? I heard about some events leading up to this year's molson Indy and that one of the events was in Yorkville. Would that be it. Will there be more cars there?
