Hi all. Had the pleasure of meeting a gentleman this weekend who may usurp A.J.s title of Diablo King. (Actually, I'd be very surprised if A.J. didn't know this guy...) Here is his Diablo Collection: Lamborghini Diablo 6.0 Lamborghini Diablo GT Lamborghini Diablo GT (#2) (Apparently these are the only two RUNNING GTs in the entire US.) He also said he has some "lesser" Diablos. <Yikes, a "lesser" diablo!?!?> Undoubtedly the richest or second richest man I've ever dealt with. Seemed to be a real enthusiast though, not what you might expect from a collector- was out driving his 6.0 and stopping for people to take pictures after the meeting. Know who I am talking about A.J. ??? Nick Image Unavailable, Please Login
Is it Richard something, the Yellow Pages heir? I know someone else who had 7 Diablos at once... I've got a pic somewhere of me sitting in his GTR.
I read his article in Celebrity Car, after I saw him buy up all of the Calloways at last year's B-J Auction.
on the 6speed forum, there's this guy named eric (LV Eric) from las vegas who has 2 diablo GTRs. also has a murci (lime green), RR phantom, etc etc http://www.6speedonline.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=10199&
Nick, that guy is in Colorado?! I can see the Colo. liscense plate....what general area did you see him, Ill have to keep an eye out for this guy...
I'm pretty certain he's DOTHater here. We spoke for a while at the Rampage, very pleasant and sociable guy.
No, I didn't catch what he did. I thought I heard some sort of sales, owned a dealership or something. Dunno.
Ryan, i've heard the same. i've certainly never met him, but those who have had only said good things about him. you should see the pictures of his new house..
seems to be a topic of endless speculation and debate on 6speed. seems only a few people (i'm not one of them) know and aren't willing to elaborate. eric has said that it's really quite ordinary.
That's great! He'd mentioned on 6spd that he was bankrupt in 93. Quite a difference now, I wonder if he'd mind taking us on the journey without giving specifics on his ACTUAL profession. I am more curious as to the timeline and what was done when as opposed to specifically what the business is. If it's as ordinary as you say, clearly the method could be applied to any business. Nick
I guess the keyword here is "see and seize the opportunity". FWIW, his bankruptcy was clean (no "I don't wanna pay my bills no more" lazyness). Thread hijacked.
Yes, I knew who it was. He has actually sold 3 of his Lambos in the last year. I heard recently that he wanted to sell a few more, but found out after inquiring that he wanted to move some of the other stuff, not the Lambos. I think he owns over 120 total cars in his collection. All makes. He is a HEAVY hitter, me, just a small time car guy.
His lesser Diablos include 5 Roadsters, including a couple under 1000 miles, a 99 and 98 SV, a 94se.......and a few more.
based on what was said in the threads over at the other site, sounds like he is involved w/ consumer lending, of some sort. yeah, it's not all that sexy-sounding, but apparently there's a need (and decidedly huge one, at that). all the power to him.
Why would u want both a 98 and 99 SV? I dunno, sure seems like having repetitive cars is useless; not just financially a burden, but a waste of space. Id prefer to have a different car at that point, clearly ull never use very many more than....3 times a yr!
When you have the wherewithal to own 120 cars, it does not matter. Very curious to know what he does. Seems like a really nice guy from his posts on other sites.
Hmmmm. Well, that would lead me to one of two areas if I were asked to surmise (which I wasn't) ... BUT: Methinks he hit hard on the refinance/low interest mortgage boom, or has opened some sort of check cashing/pay day loan/pawn business which has enjoyed blistering growth due to the growing size of the working poor/american debt load. Have personal acquaintances making a killing in this area to the tune of $400-600K net per storefront. Either way, good for him! Nick
You're the heaviest hitter here A.J. along with Ralph. All things equal though, I would always rank a self-made millionaire higher than one who luck smiled upon at birth. Nick
Aren't we talking about 2 different people here? The guy you originally posted about is the Yellow Pages guy, Richard. He has over 120 cars. I don't know the other guy, LVeric. That guy is from Vegas. Richard is from Denver. I'm fairly certain he doesn't post on car sites, but I could be wrong.
