It is interesting to note that at Sugo circuit in Japan, Enzo on Bridgestone Potenza RE050 Scuderia (OE tyres) VS P Zero Corsa System (OE for MC12) was vastly different.

    Potenza lapped at 94.181 sec
P Zero lapped at 91.204 sec

According to the report, Potenza is designed for road use with a strong emphasis on wet handling. This is why on tracks, the grip level was significantly lower than the P Zero.

Ferrari asked Bridgestone to develop RE050 Scuderia especially for Enzo due to the strong relationship between the two companies through F1 involvement.

Any lucky Enzo owners taking the car to tracks should replace the tyres with the Corsa System next time round.

Corsa is a track tire w/ treadwear rating of 60 right? RE050 is a street tire indeed. It depends on needs. Track tire is great but the Corsa may not even make it through a day on track w such soft rubber. I suspect just about every Enzo is a garage queen that's in hibernation. I've seen a few Enzo on track but not being put through the paces though.

Who did the test? Were any other cars involved?

If Ferrari is still planning on doing that Nurburgring lap I wonder if the might put on the better tires?

The RE050 was specifically designed only for Enzo as the OME tyre where Corsa system was developed for high performance mid-engine cars for better grip and handling. Both tyres could be identified as track tyres (tyres which performs well on tracks).

The major reason for such a difference in the lap times was identified as the progress of tyre technology development in the two years difference between the two tyres. The report suggested that if Bridgestone were to re-develop a tyre for Enzo now, it should be able to produce tyres which would out perform the Corsa.

There were no other cars involved for the test (no other cars use the Bridgestone tyres) and the driver was a Japanese GT driver Matsui.

Here is the rating out of 5 scored by Matsui.

    RE050 Corsa
    Comfort 3 4
    Handling 2 4
    Braking 2 4
    Controllability 2 4
    Grip 2 4
    Wet driving 4 2

I known it's almost completely unrelated, but does anyone know if BM is going to get an Enzo anytime soon?

On the subject of different tyres, in the latest episode of Top Gear, The Stig laps the 430 around their test track in 1:22.9, which is slower than the 360CS at 1:22.3.

Jeremey says that apart from the 360 being a Challenge Stradale, the Stig and a Ferrari test driver have said that the 430 is a slower car, because of the Bridgestone tyres, whereas the 360 had Pirelli.

It's a shame that they have to compromise because of their association through F1.
