Last week was a good week. My new suspension was installed For some bizarre reason my 575 suspension was soft. Absurdly soft. Measuring the spring rates confirmed the rear springs were approx 10% softer than STANDARD 575 suspension ! .......aaaaah, like WTF ??? :-/ Driving in normal traffic was ackward. Moving away from standstill would have the car pitching excessively. Normal gearchanges would lurch the car forward and back. Ackward to drive, and uncomfortable to ride in. It was nothing like the 550 test drive that captured my heart All that has now changed..... A big thankyou to Stephens - who helped me put together an upgrade. The basis of the upgrade was the FHP, with Stephens specifying the spring rates. Awesome end result - the ridiculous pitching fore-and-aft is gone. - the turn-in is breathtaking - balance is now very neutral - progression to understeer / oversteer is progressive and communicative - ride is firm, but not harsh bottom line: the car is now a coherent package track pics: http://www.qplanet.org/index.php?show=575_track&img=325 suspension install pics: http://www.qplanet.org/index.php?show=fiorano Cheers Paul Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Hi Viken Long time no chat ! I am still running P Zero Rosso's ........and desperately seeking an alternative. Finding something [read: anything] in 305.30.19 is proving challenging
Car looks great man, you have any high res of the after suspension side shots? If so, please send [email protected]
Paul Glad it worked out so well for you. Your 575 looks like a beast, hopefully you can bring it down to Phillip Island some time to play. Credit for the Fiorano spring rates must go to James at Lance Dixon's, who photocopied the factory spec sheet for me. I actually run springs of slightly different rates as devised by ferrarifixer which are a little more track friendly on my own car. How have you found the change in ride during normal street driving? All the best Stephen
Philip Island will be great James is a legend As bizzare as this may sound, the car is actually more comfortable. I attribute it to two reasons: - The [former] excessive pitching fore and aft would throw you forward or backwards in the seat. - not pleasant - The progressive rate springs we used in the rear soak up the a lot of the bumps. It is firm, but it is not harsh - if I can make that distiction.... The bottom line: It has passed the all important "wife test" It received her stamp of approval
Does anyone know the installed cost of retrofitting all the FHP parts on a stock 575M? I understand that their is the steering chip, shocks chip, springs and stabilizers to deal with. It would seem that this would be the cost spread between a 575M with and without FHP on the open market. Thanks.
360Grigiotitanio Fiorano Pack: Steering ECU Suspension ECU Springs Rear Sway bar Sway bar mounts Installation Wheel align Totals approx AUD$10 000 [retail] I *assume* you are in the USA ? US$7500 would be good indicator If you buy the full package with brakes, double that cost..... gougoul Thank you It is an F1 http://www.qplanet.org/index.php?show=575_kula&img=291 Paul
Yes, it is bizarre. it's a quirk of running shorter/stiffer spirngs on a road car that is lowered a little. What happens, is that the stiffer spring actually has less static and droop preloading than the std springs, which makes for a softer ride under normal road use. Stephens 550 ride improved massively when up rating the springs the first time.
scud, yes, pics taken after the upgrade - this is an "old" thread - the suspension was changed in July "before" pic: http://www.qplanet.org/index.php?show=fiorano&img=302 It is a shame about Darlington - it was a good track ferrarifixer, thank you for explaining that
gougoul there were no manual 575's delivered to AUS.... that said, i prefer an F1 V12 to a manual V12
Oh, i guess in europe we're not far from that either... Why do you prefer that ? I love the big' 12 in manual, eh !
Has anyone actually done a Fiorano HP conversion in the US and if so how much was it and who do it? Thanks.
I think the cost of FHP was only 3500 USD, installed at the factory. As a retrofit there would be a lot more time involved, so I would expect a higher retrofit cost.
