Just rock up...I'm sure there'll be plenty to see that's worth the effort.

Does anyone have a link to the details of this event? What time does it start and will spectators be able to come along and watch the fun??

Ferrari Club of Australia - Track Days

Calder is out north west of Melbourne, on the Calder Freeway.

Calder Park

I have attached the Google Earth link to Calder, just for fun!
Attached Files
File Type: zip Calder Park.zip (535 Bytes, 8 views)

It's well worth getting it going. I could spend hours just looking at places I have been or would like to go to. Also places in the spotlight currently, such as New Orleans, Iraq etc. Also, a mate of mine, originally from England spent all morning the other day finding each of his childhood homes he hadn't seen in years!

You should be able to just download google earth, install and run. The previous version, Keyhole, needed registration etc. Give this a go and it 'should' work. My link is simply a file you open which will go to Calder on the Google Earth map.

Is the track day at Calder open for public viewing?

Yes, track days are always open and free to view.

Bring a crash helmet and vast wads of crisp cash, and you can (probably) join up to be an associate member and get rides in some cases.

Got google earth working... amazing. But can you get live views any where...

No, in many cases the pictures are a little old. In fact I think some pics may be 2-3 years old. How often they update I have no idea, however they have updated bits around New Orleans, other than that I assume they do it randomly most of the time.

Some interesting things to see on Google Earth:

100's of interesting Google Maps Locations

Sightseeing with Google Satellite Maps

Try looking for Area 51, WTC remains, Baghdad Palace or Eiffel Tower. All interesting stuff. Or just see if you can see your house!

I will be there on the 25th then. Look forward to seeing some interesting F cars. Don't own a crash helmet..... Maybe another day!

Back to the point of the thread, who is coming? Gil? 360c? Stephens? Aircon? 348CH? All i have seen confirm is you and Tony with the 355TT!

I'm yet to see Tony confirm he is driving, jsut that he intends to make an appearance. Suffice to say enough interesting machinery will make an appearnce to make any attendance worthwhile. Contrary toi ferrarifixers post most owners will invite anyone they intend totake for passneger laps,so expecting some is unrealistic. Your best chance will be Aircon, as contrary to the impression he tries to give as a troublesome PITA, from what I have observed he is probably one of the most selfless sharing members you will find.

Good point, Tony only alluded to being there, not necessarily driving.

And I am not expecting anything except being able to watch a few great cars and take a few photos! See you there!

I have had a few PM's on the event already. I expect I am typical of many members attending, in so far as I have a number of friends who would like to come along and would love to get a passeneger ride, leaving very little, if any, opportunity for a new comer to get a ride. With the greatest of respect, forum members should not expect a ride, unless it has been pre-arranged. I am not saying that it is not possible, particularly if you, or your GF is a cute female, (or bloke for the gay FCA members).

Yes good idea, some high-res pics would be nice for us disadvantaged West Aussies who don't have events like this to attend.

Unfortunatley her interest in Ferrari track days is up there with my interest in shoes!

But yes, I couldn't agree anymore. I would be quite suprised for any owner to allow a complete stranger in their car!

I'll try my best. Camera is digital, but only so-so 3MP.

I should be there. I'll try to get some photos up shortly of last year's event to give an idea of what to expect, although the turn-up was a little disappointing. The best Ferrari track day at Calder I can remember was a charity day a couple of years ago; Gil's F40 LM, F50 and plenty more.

WTF?????? You have to be kidding. No way...I say if you want to drive or ride in a Ferrari, do what I had to do. Go buy one! If I could do it when I was 21, then anyone can.
