I had the privilege of shooting this wonderful car on a bleak Winter's morning earlier today. Here's one of the first I've got round to putting through the system .... www.fluidimages.co.uk Image Unavailable, Please Login
Nice............and here's one of 0844 on a bleak summer's day, at Goodwood in 2004. Paul M Image Unavailable, Please Login
Thats the car that hooked me at a young age, simply 1 of the best looking cars of all time. Ties for #1 with anything else
Me too ! We had a board game we'd love playing as kids in the early 70's & as I recall it had a P3 or 4 Spyder on the box, driven on the street by a guy with his son. Coolest picture ever. Does anyone know anything about this game ? www.fluidimages.co.uk

RoadRunner's photo is of 0844 not 0848. 0854 will soon have it's original coupe body as well including it's original paint and race #9 from Brands Hatch. 0844,0846 and 0848 started as P 3's. (Note 0848's P3 wheels in your photo) 0850 and 0854 were always 412 P's. 0844, 0846,0848,0850, and 0854 all were built on P3 chassis.
Here's a good question for you. Note the sills on 0848 and 0844. Look at the point where the rear of the sill meets the rear wheel well. Note how 0848's sill is straight at that point and meets the curve of the wheel opening in the tail. Note how 0844's is angled at that point. Is 0844's sill as it now is correct? Compare your rainy photo with RoadRunners Photo. Are you sure your rainy photo is 0844? Could it be 0850? Was the sill changed or is it a photographic illusion?

Great picture Tim. The car in Paul M's photo at Goodwood is definitely 0844. 0850 has been yellow since the 1990s. Not sure about the sills. -Jarrett
0844 was originaly a work-team 330 P3. In 1967 it was updated to true 330 P3/4 Specifications. At the end of the 67 Season it was quickly turned into a cut-down spyder with the crude use of hand saws and then tested at the Modena Aerodromo prior to being handed over to NART for a couple of so-so entries in Can Am races. This car was never a client 412P, end of story. Bill Noon
Nope. There was only one P3/P4 and it didn't have a 241 Typo engine in it's P 3/4 configuration it had a 237 typo engine. 0846. "true 330 P3/4 Specifications" as per the build sheets include a P4 Typo 237 motor. 0844 was a P3. The factory P3's had Lucas FI (66). Did 0844 originally have FI? Was it's motor was converted to 412 P (carbs) when it was turned over to NART? It now has carbs. It's gear box, wheels, etc. were converted to 412 P as per build sheets Christian cited at some point. Best
...to me the P3/P4 series will always be the most beautiful race cars ever built...and oh, the sound! Best, Tom Image Unavailable, Please Login
Autosport for February 10, 1967, Daytona 24 hours race report by Patrick McNally: ".....Pedro Rodriguez in the NART P3 Ferrari, which he was pushing along at a furious pace. This was one of last year's factory cars, fitted with carburation instead of fuel injection and with a German 5-speed ZF gearbox replacing the Ferrari unit." So 0844, 0846 and 0848 had PI at Le Mans in 1966; 0844 was converted back to carburettors (6 x 40DCN/2) for Daytona 1967 (the same as the 330P2 spec), and 0850 and 0854 had carbs when they were first assembled in 1967. My photo of 0844 was a reduced scan of a poor print taken on a rainy day - so I think it is just an optical illusion. AFAIK 0844 hasn't needed body repairs since being converted to a berlinetta again after 1997. Paul M

Note gearbox change as well. I bet 66 Ferrari gearbox was Typo 593!!! 66 P3 Typo 593. 67 ZF then 603R
Honestly I had your site saved in my photography bookmarks long before I found out you posted on this site. I love your work, esp. the shots you took of that Bizzarrini 5300GT race car for Gregor Fisken. Stunning. Keep it up...always look forward to your posts.
0850 was supposed to be a 330 P3 but due to a strike at the Ferrari factory in 1966 the car was not delivered to Franchorchamps until Daytona of 1967. It did not have a P3 or P4 nose but a combination of the two. It was always a 412P. I know 0844 was restored by GTC in Scottsdale during the early 1980s. But I yeild the floor to Mr. Napolis. He is a P3 & P4 Guru.
Dave you're right about the 412's having a combination nose. The shape and nose inlet is P4 but the 412's have one central P3 upper lip "Bisquit" rather than the two smaller P4 more to the side "Bisquits". Marcel's copyrighted photo shows the difference between P3 (0846) and P4 noses (0856). The photo of 412 P 0854 shows the combination nose and Sal's photos show that underneath 40 lbs of bondo, 0854's original nose paint, race numbers, and welded over central "Bisquit", which we will restore, still live. Best PS. I believe GTC put 0858's spyder tail on 0854 in the 80ies. I don't think they worked on 0850. Jim the picture with the paint stripped away from the nose of 0856 is fantastic. Can't you leave it like that? Would that not count as original livery from 4 or 5 different races?
