    Should I be worried?

I've had the car since early this year, and I've put almost 1,000 miles per month on her so far (so good).

But tonight I saw the first drop of fluid on the floor directly underneath the tranny, dead center towards the rear of the car.

I'm using the Red Line 70w90 "no shock" tranny fluid, which is (at least when new) bright yellow in color.

The drop of fluid on the concrete is sort of a milky yellow or faded white.

This is in the area where one would think leaking flywheel grease or tranny fluid would be found.

Urgent problem? Fix immediately before it gets worse and damages something?

Or don't worry until/unless the leak gets larger? Or is this just one of those "when the weather changes from warm to cold a Ferrari drips a drop" sort of things?

The car starts no problem, hot, cold, doesn't matter. No "box of rocks" sounds when starting or killing the engine. Silky smooth shifts, even when cold, even today.

Thoughts from those who've been there, done that?

Sounds like either brake fluid leaking past slave cylinder seals or gear lube leaking past input shaft triple seals and mixing with flywheel grease. Get it looked at sooner than later. It's not a huge deal to remove the "pumpkin" and have a look so no worries...but do fix it before it gets worse. Check the archives for clutch removal as plenty of folks on this board have done it before. Good luck.

Start by keeping a close eye on it. Also, try to figure out whether it's trans. fluid, clutch fluid, or grease. If clutch fluid, then it's more grounds for concern than the other alternatives.

Would clutch fluid ever be a milky white or faded yellow??

If it spins out and mixes with the white Kluber grease in the flywheel, then possibly so.

Well, if it isn't a compound, multiple failure problem then I've got it licked. The transmission drain bolt wasn't even hand tight!

Frightening to think about that bolt just...dropping out...as I'm driving.

Tightened her up. Now I'll watch closely for any further leaks/drips.

Glad is was something easy. Was a new copper washer used during the last change?

No (the old one was just turned upside down, my bad), and that just goes to show you that you really, really need a new crush ring with each gear oil change.

    Don't make my mistake!
