I've noticed that everyone calls the Enzo, "Enzo". However, they always call the Enzo "F60" on Top Gear.

I was under the impression the Enzo was an "in-between" model in their super car line-up. Furthermore, the Enzo wasn't released in the decade fashion that the F40 and the F50 were released. Furthermore, there are rumors of a model of being released in 2007-2008 named F60.

So maybe the question should be, "Why do they call the Enzo a F60 on Top Gear?"

If someone could clarify this or point me to a resource that explains this I would apreciate it.

    Thanks!

A long time before the press releases or leaks, magizines and TV all said it was going to be called the F60 or FX. This was do to the fact the car was the follow to the F50 in the line of "super ferraris". I believe that Top Gear, among others believe that the Enzo is the Enzo/F60. If you watch Top gear you see the car called both names.

For starters, Top Gear is an entertainment program and not a news program. ;)

Before the Enzo's release many in the press speculated or referred to the car as the 'F60'. Often spy photos used that as the caption identifier. When the car was released it had a different name - Ferrari Enzo Ferrari, or more appropriately just "Ferrari Enzo".

Apparently Jeremy Clarkson is as dense as he seems and has not yet picked up on this fact. Even more foolish he will look when the actual F60 debuts... Though I do have some doubts whether Ferrari will ever produce a car called the "F60". We'll see...

Anyway, it's not an F60 and Clarkson does a great disservice to the viewers of Top Gear when he refers to it that way. That he could continue to get such a basic detail so wrong leaves me questioning just about everything he says. Afterall, he is a giant bafoon. :D

Thanks for both of your replies.

    But here is another question:
For a company that is built on tradition, why would they break the tradition of naming the super car F(insert decande #)? Or even "F60 Monaco"? or whatever they are going to name it.

    Is the tradition still there?

Nonetheless, F60 would symbolize the 60 year anniversary in 2006-7. The F40 and F50 came close to the 40 and 50th anniversary years, the Enzo was announced in 2002, I think, unlike the 40 and 50, it was just a little too early to be deserve the 60-year anniversary title.
