Saturday we'll get a weather forecast from Gen'l Beau Lee, then on Sunday we can all celebrate whatever that furry varmint predicts, at the usual place on Windward Parkway. I just hope that I can wake up early enough......

When I left the house this morning, I was surprised to find the streets still a little damp, since the rain had stopped last night around 10 PM. With a temperature of around 33, I was a bit careful while driving, avoiding one hill in particular in Roswell, but it still took me just over 1/2 hour to make the drive from Marietta. And I never saw any ice.

When I arrived around 6:50, the lot was beginning to fill, though the weather made that process a bit slower than usual. The gang from Motorcars was already there with seven Lamborghinis side-by-side, including a Murcielago SuperVeloce that got a lot of attention. An Aventador was also nearby, next to a Ford GT.

I'll have more photos, probably tomorrow, including the oldest pickup truck I've ever seen!

I can't blame you, John. It looks pretty, but not to drive in, unless you have an FF.

Anyway, if the Lamborghini show of force wasn't enough, the Bentley dealer was there, with flags! And at least one Rolls Royce in the mix. There were a few other British cars on the premises as well.

And since this is a Ferrari forum.....

When I arrived in the dark I looked around for a good place to park and found a 360 whose owner was never around when I was. Later, Dan showed up from the dealership with the now-familiar grey FF. He ran the V-12 quite a bit, which provided needed warmth for those of us in the area! At least we had three Ferraris in close proximity, and there were others scattered around the lot. Rick's 456 will make someone happy; any buyers out there? And a few Alfa Romeos also made the scene.

Japanese cars included an almost ungodly number of Nissan GT-Rs, which hardly seem uncommon anymore. The new Scion/Subaru twins are becoming common as well. But I rather liked the older-model Mazda rotary and Celica.

And there was even a French car there, in the form of a Citroen DS23. The spare can of oil lashed inside the spare tire seemed a bit bizarre, but then aren't most French cars like that?

American vehicles included an unseemly number of ridiculously large pickups; do people really need monsters that large? But other cars included a "lead sled" and a couple of Prowlers and older Cadillacs, though one of those had a big 500-c.i. engine fitted to it.

Some miscellany, including a King Midget, reminding us of the big auction coming up in two weeks at the now-defunct Microcar Museum over in Madison. And the Alpharetta and Milton fire departments were kind enough to show off two of their latest trucks.

The piece de resistance was the appearance (before dawn!) of a 1909 International pickup, undoubtedly the oldest pickup I've ever seen. This is a true "horseless carriage", down to the wooden wagon wheels with solid rubber "tires"! I should have asked the driver how far he actually drove it. (Yes, it's the same International that is still making trucks.)
