Has anyone seen or heard anything about an event this year?
Hi Bob, all looks pretty good with so many cars returning. Now, I start praying for good weather. Looking forward to seeing everyone.
Remember to hit this site, download the forms, and bring with you. http://fmoaridestoremember.org/forms/2014_driver-and-volunteer-release-form.pdf
I can't believe our ninth edition is just more than a week away. Thanks so much to all of you who support Rides to Remember. The dealership will open at 8am for registration and an event briefing. Coffee and some lite breakfast chow will be served. Please register and sign your release using the on-line link. It will help facilitate the process on Saturday morning. See you soon!
Does it cost to be a driver? Do you take the kids to the track or drive them around there? Is it still too late to sign up?
No it does not cost to be a driver. We meet the kids at the track and ride them around a few laps. No it is not too late.
Am looking forward to it. My 9 year old and I usually drive around on the weekends in one of our cars but I told him this weekend would be for another child; he was really understanding as he said, "dad, I get to do this with you all the time, they will have a great time"! Then he told me which car to take and why,lol I am bringing the Panoz; we talked about the '74 Lotus and the Aston DB7 GT....but he felt the Panoz Esperante GT was a car no one really sees so that is what I am bringing, look forward to meeting you folks! Will... Will someone from AMP (Burt?...etc) be giving a safety talk at FMOA? I ask because it seems some don't remember that we have children...and not our children, in our cars and its not the time to play Lets-Space-Out-The-Cars, or The-Acceleration-Game during this event. Keeping a safe pace, keep a safe space. (Last year some tool in a gray Gallardo drop-top almost tagged me a few times, even ended up next to my door twice and my passenger asked "What is he doing?").
Bob, I remember that car and situation, and recalled it during a Rides planning mtg this week. I will be driving the lead car once again for the track sessions, with a follow car behind the group to keep watch for this very thing. Race control also has cameras and will be communicating with me the entire time. I have little tolerance for bad behavior on track so we will have a plan of action to remove any car that is unsafe. See you Saturday morning for the caravan! Trip
Good comments and very important, as well. I will review the safety point in my talk at the store and will review it again with the good folks at AMP to be sure we waive a black flag when appropriate. Safety first, fun a close second. Really want to thank everyone for being part of Rides. Very excited about Saturday.
Trip thanks much...and Will, 200% agreed. I think it has been about the best possible now for the kids, especially with the addition of AMP. Quite the Ride-To-Remember, literally!
