Remember that tomorrow is the first Sunday in June, and hence the morning for Caffeine & Octane in Alpharetta/Milton.

For those seeking something less frenetic, consider the event in Mountain Park on GA-92 just west of Sandy Plains Road. It is in front of an LA Fitness and right next to a Waffle House, though the last time I was there there was also a lady offering free doughnuts and coffee!

The only stipulation is that your car must be at least 25 years old, though I doubt if they'd turn away a newer exotic.

C & O starts at 4:00'ish (yes, that happened last month!) vs the 'better' one which starts at 7:45ish ..... or another description, CarMax/Frenetic vs Classic & Vintage cars with friends.

It was a pleasure not to have to get up early and rush like mad to get a parking space. I arrived on GA-92 at about 7:40 and there was plenty of parking. I'd say the arrivals were a bit delayed by a little inclement weather that had moved through the area, though on my drive all I saw was some wet roadways. (I did leave the roof on the Ferrari just in case.) The clouds threatened for awhile but no rain happened on the show.

There was a fair amount of European participation, though I was disappointed not to see any other Italian cars. There were plenty of Porsches, mainly early 911s, and other German and British and even a French car! Here are a few of them:

I believe people register their supercar there because it's cheaper. Last month that Aventador had a dealer tag.

If you like old American iron - and I do, if it hasn't been "hot-rodded" too much - this was a great show. The '30s, in particular, were well represented!

Some words about the less-than-pristine '35 Ford in the 4th thru 6th photos. Apparently that car has been on the road for its entire 79-year life! The interior is original; the paint is not - the car was repainted sometime in the '60s, so the paint is only about 50 years old instead of nearly 80! The glass was also replaced, since the original glass had yellowed to become rather opaque. And notice - no rust, aside from a little surface rust where the paint had worn away.

Now, how many of today's new cars will still be on the road in 2093??
