Rolex 24 and Cavallino.

This is what happens when they stack two great events on the same date. You get exhausted. We hit Daytona on Wed. 74 degrees, smooth. By Saturday it was in the 40's after the sun set. But on Friday night we drove to West Palm for Cavallino. You have to be outside about 7 am to hear all the cars drive in, and that is usually the best part, as once parked they are very silent statues, and you are not sure they really work, but in the morning they are all alive, and breathing.

Even saw Will down there and Chuck. But the strange thing was I only saw Chuck in the bar on Friday night. Did he sleep all day saturday.................. I don't know just saying I did not see him Saturday........................
Will and his crowd forced me into a photo shot before I filmed this one of us. All I can say it just about shut down the show as props were falling and I am sure I heard one of the guys scream..............

The Keno Brother, from road show, what the.......................... do they know cars, could not figure that one out..... there was no furniture on the lawn.
Car #62 was Risi Ferrari with Fisichella. DNF engine problems. They were leading the race in class after midnight. Our formula one boys had a hard time.

The night at daytona is always magical. Driver waiting for a 2 am drive, tires always rolling,
and food it always in the pits for a quick snack for the crew. Andy Lally , local boy, was lucky that he got the porsche back in the race at about 10pm. In the Flex Box #44.

Preston Henn was there with a couple of cars. #06885 #24 was there, but the funny thing was only Preston would put dollar signs on his 458 speciale. He did say he had a LaFerrari heading his way.But thought the speciale was really fine on the road also, much more fun to drive than the F12 he had, and did not like. He picked up a Porsche 918, and had his old Porsche 962 that won the 24hrs of Daytona also was displayed at the Daytona Speedway.
He has lots of neat stuff. But, did sell the G650 jet.
I have known Preston for 51 years of my life, and my dad knew him in the 1940's when they were teenagers racing around the mountains.

So one of the main reasons I come down to the Cavallino is to visit with Preston. As we both get older, I think that when he was at my age 51 he was driving and winning the 24 hrs of Daytona, LeMans, in 935's and 962's. And at 85 he still has a thirst for the fastest. Because 30 years ago he was 55. Not sure I can catch up.............................. by a long shot.
