Time to put some freon in the Merak. I remember reading Jim's post several years ago about an A/C service somewhere on Peachtree Industrial inside I-285, but cannot seem to locate them properly. I'm not having any luck locating anyone who does R12 A/C work on this side of town. :(

Jim, might you recall the name of the shop and if they are still in business?

    Thanks in advance!

    Ciao,
    George

    Thank you, Jim.

When I replace the horrible York compressor I'll do the switch over, but for the short term I need the R12.

    Stay cool! :)

134 isn't an "upgrade" in a R12 system. It is barely a substitute unless other modifications are made.

+1 on autocool. Brad has done work on several of my cars, and does great work. I highly recommend.

I know it's not an upgrade. This changeover will probably be a next spring project. On the horizon is a new refrigerant and R134 will in turn get a hefty price tag to discourage its use.

New Sanden rotory compressor with R12 fittings, high efficiency parallel flow condenser, trinary switch, new receiver, new expansion valve, and new lines to handle R134.

Once installed, I would like to go with R12 in the system. At this point R12 can be still purchased on EBay. Later on down the road, if worse comes to worse, the fittings could always be switched over to R134.

Maybe I better start stocking up on R12 now before it disappears!!!

That's my story and I'm sticking to it. :)

If you need to supply your own R12 for the shop to avoid paying a crazy high price let me know. I have plenty.
