Fantastic looking cars. I thought they had stopped making them?

I took one on a nasty trail some years ago and it was quite capable. I like them and would enjoy one as my driver but they do suck the fuel. About as aero as a brick.

Yeah it gets about 12 mpg city 15 on the hwy.

From what I understand Mercedes tried to stop making them but they have a good following so they kept making them.

    I love those trucks.

the only thing in the current MBZ lineup that I'd actually spend money on.

Ouch! This is one of the reasons we ditched the Range Rover. Got an Audi Q5 and love the car. Nice ride Mark.

Only an H1 can beat it off road and only barely.
3 (!!) locking differential do wonders......
Btw, a V12 G65 is coming to US this Fall.

It proves that even a brick can go fast if it has enough power.

Now you ought to strive for the "other" G550, the one built in Savannah with two wings and two jet engines....

My mother in law had one...drove it a few times around town....drove like it looked (like a brick with square wheels/tires) and generally handled even worse...

To each their own - glad you love it...

If it handles in a crosswind anything like the Nissan Cube (another square vehicle) that I rented once, it'll be a handful.

My wife has loved both the G550 and Range Rover for years, but would not consider buying either with the horrible fuel economy of the gas engine being the only engine available in the USA. Now that the Range Rover is offering its diesel engine in the USA, she plans on replacing her 95k mile GL350 diesel with a Range Rover diesel.
