We did the Porsche Driving Experience at their new US headquarters and track by the airport.

    I was very impressed.
    Great staff. Well organized.
    Solid driving instructor.

You select what flavor of Porsche you want to drive or pick two to compare. Go out with an instructor and get to put in some hot laps, wet skid pad, cones, launch control starts, etc.

You get about an hour and a half of seat time.

I drove the new 911 Turbo and then the GT3.

    Very different rides but the
GT3 won hands down for me.

Anyway, if you want to kill an afternoon driving Porsches, I recommend checking it.

I had booked to do the Turbo vs GT3 experience last month on Feb. 9th when I was in Atlanta. However, that was the one day it snowed so it was cancelled. :(

I'm trying to arrange a late Summer/Early Fall date now. I was looking forward to eating at Restaurant 356 also.

We ate lunch after at 356.
    Food was good.
    Service was slow...every slow.

    Chris -

Bill and I did the GT3 vs Turbo back last fall... it was a blast. the track is surprisingly long and fun.

the kick plate is super hard - especially in the GT3....

I managed the turbo just fine off the kick plate.
But the GT3 kicked my butt. Tried twice and failed by times!
Couldn't get my hands to move fast enough to catch it.

    Loved the track too.
Great fun and was a lot easier to go fast than I expected.

The Turbo was pretty easy to handle on the kick plate.. I found it was even easier with one hand... in stead of both... there is a lot of arm twisting...

the GT3 I must have tried 10 times... only caught it slightly once... and that was pure luck.

skid pad was also fun... except I did not like being out there with another car...

did you do the simulators? I need to go back and do those again for an hour...

I was more interested in track time than pad or kick plate work. However, I did do my fair share of launch control starts!

I went and looked at the sim room but didn't have time to play.
Seemed a little more video game than high quality sim but didn't spend enough time watching to really tell.
