who is going ?
I plan to be there on Saturday and will park in the Italian car corral, if they have one. Friday's weather is predicted to be bad, but Saturday looks fine. I'll leave a bit early since there's an FCA dinner Saturday evening in Sandy Springs.
last year it was a bust, from the competitors' perspective... too many events for the short track time allotted... events / classes already cut short by not enough time in the day, were further cut shorter by off track excursions etc that shut the track down for clean up... promoters did a great job of getting participation, but fell short of not delivering the allotted track time... allowing for many opinions of the Mitty not representing good value for the expense and effort to travel the distance to the event... last year's entrants known to me are not participating this year... preferring to use David Murry's track days prior to the Mitty for their on track time and use the Mitty to meet meet old friends and make new ones... for the non competitors the Mitty is a good occasion to roam the facility and enjoy the various cars on and off track... a better car show with periods of live demonstrations
I'll be taking the family up (from Florida) for the weekend and camping on the track. My son's idea for his birthday weekend. He'll be seven by the way. And yeah, we'll be taking our little 308 up, because he is insisting on that too. I assume this means I will be driving with him, while the wife drives our truck and trailer, but I may have that backwards . . . Anyway, looking forward to running across a few F-chatters. See you there.
I will be there Sunday morning helping with the tech session. If you have a Jaguar question or general British car question, stop by...https://classicmotorsports.com/news/classic-car-clinics-at-the-mitty/
It's the 2nd or third year this has happened. It's fortunate I literally pass Barbers on the way home.
Hope to be messing about on Saturday when it is dry. But, not sure if I should bring the 1977 GT4 or the 550. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Bring the GT4. After all, this is supposed to be "historic" racing, so older cars should be preferred over newer ones.
ill be there Saturday. I Need to drop off the 930 back of at Grahams next door and will hitch hike back home.
man what a great Mitty.. only saw 1 Ferrari racing which was odd. it was a blue 430., sounded and looked great my buddy Doc Bundy finished 2nd in the Lotus 23 B.. the engines are only good for 8 hrs before rebuild and it was on its 10th hour so nobody knew if it would let go. the Lotus F1 car has a brand new fresh Cosworth DFV .. only 15 minutes on the motor and it let go in practice.. 2 valves went south in the same cylinder.. one was stuck open and the other stuck shut.. its junk. they are sending the engine to my buddy John Judd in the UK for a quick rebuild.
Didn't anyone ever teach you guys that patience is a virtue? How else do you think I've made it through 12 years of Ferrari driving without getting a speeding ticket? Here is a teaser. This includes two of my favorites from the day - the '67 Trans Am Cougar and the sweet Jaguar XJ13 replica. I'll post some more later in the week.
