As usual, I drove down to south Florida last month (in my daily driver) to visit my dad, and as usual I headed down to Fort Lauderdale one day to see the automotive sights (and have some five-way chili at Skyline!).

First stop was Ferrari of Fort Lauderdale. How'd you'd like to surprise your significant other with a gift-wrapped LaFerrari? Not as much on the pre-owned side as in past years, but I was attracted to the Porsche GT3RS, which was actually more purple than it photographs.

Then a trip down US-1 to the Motorcar Gallery just north of downtown, where I enjoyed touring the showroom with our old friend Steve Ahlgrim. Notable cars included the black '85 Countach, the '62 Maserati 3500 Vignale spider, the burgundy '49 Maserati A6 1500 coupe, the "his-&-hers" '63 Lancia Flaminia spiders and the colorful '39 BMW 327 cabriolet. This place always has some fascinating cars!

When I returned to Palm Beach county, I did make a brief stop at Ferrari of Palm Beach. Somehow they generally don't have too many unique cars, though they were well stocked. They do have an interesting collection of books to read in their large waiting room.

Nice pics, thanks for sharing. I'm currently visiting Newport Beach and plan to go to the dealer there, I've past it on the street and wow the cars they have!

Yeah, who would have thought that you could get Cincinnati-style chili in Broward County, FL? I wish they'd open one in greater Atlanta!

I might be headed to Key West this summer. If so, I'll stop off and visit Steve at Motorcar Gallery. I haven't see him since FAF folded around 1995.
