We built a spare tire carrier that is similar to the original Ferrari , by eliminating the fold back fiat top used on the Modenas we were able to get a spare tire in the trunk

We built it out of aluminum, going use a leather belt and center screw hold down to secure the spare

Sending the car to the upolhster this week to have the top made before we paint it, does anybody know what the correct Ferrari red would be for a 1961 250? It seems there is a few different shades of Ferrari red, also any info on the correct tan leather hide color name? Any good sources for the leather hides?

Hi Rick
What is 300/600? Is that a paint code?

New window design.

Hi Matt
Thank you for sharing your project with us. I remember when your car was for sale around the same time as mine. I have read through all your post and I must give you a lot of credit and respect. It's a big undertaking. I have started a similar project with my car it's also a Modena.
We have it stripped right down to the frame and just finished the epoxy on the frame.
People think I'm crazy for doing it because the car looked fine. It wasn't fine to my taste. I like you wanted a more original car. You are going over and above my level and it's going to look amazing. For mine I want to get it looking better. I do want to take the vent window out and replace it with a single window. Can you tell me the size that you have figured out fir the window, what regulators you're using and the handles you have picked on the inside.
It would help me tremendously. Thanks for your help I'll post some pictures so you can see what I'm doing. Giuseppe

Your car looks amazing. I'm so excited for you. I'm not sure how to use this site???
I sent a reply but it's not showing up. I have the same car and I too am refitting it completely.
Could you tell me the size of the new single window and the regulators that you are using fir the windows. I'm looking to take out the vent window also.
Thanks Giuseppe

Hi Giuseppe
I remember the car you bought also,I talked with owner ,he had just had the interior redone, the one piece door glass is just flat tempered glass,I am having it made at a glass shop it is really inexpensive , I made plywood templates first , you have to modifiy the front of the doors to take the one piece glass, also we had to use power window regulators,I purchased them from summit racing, the window switches look like a window crank and you can order them to fit the old Ferrari window crank,I am using the stock Ferrari 250 interior inside door handles and window cranks ,also Ferrari 250 outside door handles, they are available new from Mr Fiat and GTOengineering among other places, if you can find good used Alfa Romeo guilietta spider 759/101 handles they are the same and it will be cheaper, they are usually on eBay ,I can get you some pics of the door modifications in a couple weeks when I get the car back to the paint shop, you might want to check with Micheal at Calspyder and he might sell you two fiberglass inner door shells and you can use what you need to make your doors except the one piece glass... Let me if I can answer anymore questions ,happy to do so
Matt
....I have a extra dash with no vents,I modified to to take a larger tach and speedo, and I put a glove box door in it,available if you need it

Totally agree with you- this design looks so good in ALL the blues, metallic especially but I'm also always blown away by POZZI. The new BLU CORSA is also sweet...

I'm sure you'll pick a great one-

Ready for paint finally

I love that blue also ,it was a toss up between a charcoal grey or metallic blue... I am going with Silverstone Grigio and probably a red/burgundy seats ,console ,door card...., black wrinkle finish dash, convertible top drape, tops of doors, not sure if I am going with black or red floor and side sill carpets
