Who is into the MMA scene? I know I am, HDNet fights everyday baby! Anyone psyched for the Aug. 9th fight Featuring St-Pierre and Fitch? Another thing I'm looking forward to is Chuck liddell fighting in september. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
HUGE MMA fan----went out to Vegas last month for the TUF Finale and met a bunch of fighters... This Sunday night should be some great fights.... http://www.wec.tv/index.cfm?fa=eventdetail.fightCard&eid=1455
Full fight card for next Saturday night.. http://www.ufc.com/index.cfm?fa=eventDetail.FightCard&eid=1415
Used to be a big UFC fan back in the day (mid 90's). Now I'm more into Vale Tudo (similar to the original UFC). I still watch UFC though. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0b-rjINVU2M
I've been getting into it more and more. It's great that they show previous fights on Spike during the weekends. I need to get an HD receiver for my TV so I can watch the fight this weekend in HD! Vale Tudo looks really hardcore. I'll have to dig up more about it online.
I'm a huge fan, and GSP is my favorite fighter. I hope he hands Fitch his 1st loss. It will be interesting to see what kind of game plan Greg Jackson puts together. The whole card for the night is great. Kenflo should beat Huerta. And ag512bbi's boy Gamburyan is fighting......I hope he doesn't have any issues with his shoulder. Brock and Heath make for an interesting fight.....that one can go either way.
GSP is such an amazing fighter. Everything he does looks so clean and perfectly executed. Watcing Gamburyan get knocked out was hilarious and Brock Lesnar beating the crap out of Heath Herring was great, Heath Herring annoys the hell outta me.
Should we have a new thread for each events to avoid spoilers or just keep everything in here? Pretty good fight card last night. I was hoping for a lot more action in the Florian/Huerta fight. But you gotta do what you gotta do, I guess. Totally reminded me of the Machida/Ortiz fight. Lesnar/Herring fight could have had a bit more action. But I enjoyed it since I was rooting for Brock. The slow-mo replays of that 1st round punch were awesome. Main event was great. Fitch is good and did an impressive job hanging in there. He just got too rocked in the early rounds. GSP looked fairly fresh even at the end.
Has anyone done the Bass Rutten MMA Workout - great conditioning & workout? Just finished my first round of the boxing and will move up to the Thai boxing next week, once my conditioning & cardio is up.
While so many were rooting for Brock (simply because they know him from wrestling), is he the next Tito? At least among the members of UFC? His arrogance of pointing and laughing at Herring was a bit much to me. I'm now hoping he gets completely killed in his next match. On a side note, didn't realize he was married to Sabel. She has had some major face work done.
Herring annoys the hell out of you but Lesnar doesn't? Lesnar has some skills, but seems like a grade-A asshat. Brock seems to want to pick up the Tito Ortiz torch now that Tito's gone from UFC, probably forever.
I would love to see Brock get his ass handed to him, but I don't think there's anyone currently in the UFC HW division that can do it. Noguiera would probably submit him quickly, but I don't see anyone that could give Brock a whooping. He's too fast and strong. Affliction has a few guys who could do it (Fedor, Tim Sylvia, Josh Barnett), but the UFC's HW division is horrible.
A co-worker mentioned he like to see Kimbo fight Brock. If Kimbo gained weight to be put in Brock's weight range it would be rather interesting. Simply because Kimbo can take hard hits. Brock really has no skill whatsoever. He's just using his wrestling and football skills. Rushing and taking them down. Then using his strength over the opponent to his advantage. He has no martial arts skill.
He's got great wrestling skills, though. So once he gets you down, he can keep you down. Just like he did to Herring. He's a bigger version of Josh Koscheck, IMO. Great wrestler, great athlete, not a great MMA fighter yet. But it usually takes someone at the top of the food chain to expose the great wrestlers as one trick ponies. Come to think of it, he acts a lot like Koscheck, too.
