I saw Clemson beat UGa at Clemson. The fans stormed the field. Ten seconds after the game was over, the goalposts were laying on the ground. They apparently had benn lowered in some controlled fashion.

This is so much more desirable that tearing down the posts. That may go into history. And sad in a way to see that go. But the possibility of injury and death just says that it is a safe thing.

I really like it. I am all for safety. It is in my DNA.

I talked to a friend last night that said he had seen them before. I have been out of touch perhaps. Probably working too much.

They have been around for 10 years or so. Definitely a fun tradition to remember unless you got whacked by them on the way down. Leverage is a bad thing in that case.

If your for safety, then how can you be a fan of a dangerous game like football?

Do any of you remember when the goalposts were ON the goal line?
THOSE were the days, that is where the 'post pattern' came from.

    Yes.

And I remember when football players were real men and had to play on offense AND defense.

I liked it when the player could actually run into one of the two goal post's and knock themselves OUT!

Makes ya wonder what kind of games we would have today, if the goalposts were as wide apart as they were 40 years ago, I don't know if anyone would ever miss a FG.
I think they have narrowed them something like 12-14 feet.
