A very tough course. Poa annua greens are bumpy and hard to read (like Pebble). The undulations on the greens are massive. Short of hole shots may take a run off forty yard in front of the green. Even if you hit the fairway, the slope may feed you into a massive sand trap. Typical hole has waste bunkers on one side and foot high gorse on the other. Needless to say many pros are pulling their hair out. Entertaining, especially you like to see golf pros suffer. Woods is +16 and will not make the cut. Only the 2nd time for Tiger to miss an Open cut.
I've been watching them play and that course looks impossible! It's hard to watch a pro use 3 strokes to get out of a bunker. Some big names have struggled big time. I don't think I would ever want to ever play there.
Course is terrible. Reminds me of a polished up mini putt course. The greens you can roll it all the way around. 4 players/caddies have needed treatment. Fans no where near some of the greens. Why is the US open playing on a links type course? You expect great conditions, imagine other pro sports playing on sub par conditions, it would never fly. Dont even get me started on FOX covering this, quite terrible. No major will be played here again. You can tell players are holding back how they truly feel.
I have played some courses with a couple of holes like this but there is no breather here. I bet most of the pros hate it. Pebble poa annua greens. They are tiny by comparison. Every time i have had a caddie. They know the greens and can save you several strokes a round. This looks like a weekend golfers nightmare. Imagine what this would be like in bad weather. Yikes!

I love it. The pro's playing just like I do. All things being equal I would take a ten over par any day.
I love the US Open, I wish more tourneys a year really challenged the pros like this and we saw back of the field shooting 80's. I like the course, except I have never liked a course where you can land the ball in good spot, but then it ends up 75 yards away in bunker, rough, or water. I believe in hard, but not unfair. As my brother use to say, everyone is playing the same course.
For the record, I live a short walk from the course Great place to walk the dog - beautiful views. Alas, can't get near the place this weekend. Jedi
+1 I have to root for him. I want to see him win this weekend! Having a caddy that was local to the course has to be very helpful since it looks like a terribly tough course
Spieth's caddy caddied for a season at this course (after the remodel) and got married there. Rooting for Jordon of course.
I can't imagine how frustrating it would be to drive the ball perfectly then watch it roll from the middle of the fairway into a bunker. I'm still hoping Spieth can pull it off today. This will be some close golf today between the leaders.
Anyone ever get involved with Draftkings. They had a $1 millon winner for US open. I wrote down a few names before it started and would have done really well. Not sure how it all works though
A couple friends do it. They always offer promotions to suck you in. My friends don't do high stakes but it sounds like they have won some dollars here and there. It's not for me though. I don't know enough and am way too tight with my money.
Youngest player to win the Open since Bobby Jones. Not too bad. Hope he wins the British Open as well.
Really happy to speith come out of that great finish. I like DJ too but the chance to see speith at British open and pga champ will be great.
The last four men to win the year's first two majors were named Hogan, Palmer, Nicklaus and Woods - lofty company to be amongst!
A great golfer. Long and accurate. Reminds me of the saying: Drive for show, putt for dough! I think he made a big career mistake by not showing up for the award ceremony. Oosthuizen did and had the same score. Bet DJs sponsors were disappointed not to see their logos in a prime time ceremony. Now some sponsors wont touch him. It is a sport and a business. Letting emotions dictate poor business decisions costs. Hope he recovers from this. A great player.
