Wrong thread PNH? ☺ Don't get too excited, that puts you one step closer to signing Colin Kaepernick! 😁 T
My friends cousin, Tyler Naquin was just named starting centerfielder for the Cleveland Indians. The family is really excited. I know I'll be watching more Indians games this year. Why Tyler Naquin's addition to the Cleveland Indians roster is exciting - Let's Go Tribe
+1 Very cool! Seems when it comes to sport at least, 'we' can live vicariously thru the slightest 'connection'. I mean, 'my friends cousin' is a pretty thin link, but it's a link. Ergo it works. Cheers, Ian
Yea, I've met him a handful of times, and he was apart of my friends wedding a few years ago while he still played at A&M.
FYI. Tyler White (33rd pick who signed for $1,000) made the Astros 40 man roster. He obtained a Spring Training invitation as a non-roster player (first spring training invitation). Most likely he will be the {starting first baseman} for the MLB team. He will break S.T. with the big league club. I believe the Astros were the only team to scout him. He had doubts about being drafted. He played for Eastern Carolina. All he does is hit. He has raked his entire minor league career. He handled both AA and AAA pitching. An older prospect at 25 years old. White is not exactly popping up on prospect lists. Just average HR power. Not many 33rd picks even make it to AA. White walks more than he strikes out . Underdog is alive.
Great. Good luck. Please give us updates. Chuck Knoblauch's older brother was in my home-room at Bellaire H.S.
Great to hear stories like that. Hope he does well, unless he's playing my Mets. Then it's Golden Sombrero time! T
White is not interested in the Golden Sombrero . Years ago, I watched the Astros play the Mets in Queens. It is odd to attend a game at an opposing stadium. Everything happens in reverse with the fans. The #7 train will take you to Shea Stadium. I went to a different game at Shea when Foster was having a terrible season. You could spot his stretched limo from the nosebleed seats . I have not been to Citi Field. (both of my parents were born in NYC).
Yeah, I've been on both the losing & winning end of many Met games in the enemy's lair. In general, real fans are reasonably classy. Ugh. Please don't mention George Foster! He was an expensive mistake! T
Joe Morgan, Jason Jennings, Woody Williams, release J.D. Martinez, Mark Appel vs Kris Bryant, Michael Jordan (could have been selected by the Rockets / I am not much of a basketball fan), David Carr and Jadaveyon Clowny. Of course everyone messed up with Mike Trout. The Astros picked Jiovanni Mier (1st round) and passed on Trout. Mier is a career minor-league player who plays elsewhere. Mike Trout is Mike Trout.
Haha, nice! I went to high school with Nick Stavinoa who played for the Cardinals for a few seasons. I was better friends with his step-brother though. Sure I've mentioned my ties to Larry Dierker as well before.
The Joe Morgan trade was viewed unfavorably by many in Cincinnati at the time. Oh boy, did they land a bucket load of players who turned out to be integral to the Big Red Machine. http://cincinnati.reds.mlb.com/cin/hof/article.jsp?ymd=20120831&content_id=37643594&fext=.jsp&c_id=cin T
Another year were 70% of the people who live in LA county can't see the Dodgers play on TV --- but you can see every Angels game. Without question the stupidest decision the Dodgers made of all time -- giving Time Warner the exclusive rights.
No NFL team for 20 years. No TV for arguably one of the marquee teams of the MLB. L.A. sure is a strange sports town...T
