I thought I'd make this thread so any of us who fish can chit chat and swap fish stories. Went out fishing with a couple of friends yesterday out of San Pedro on an overnight boat. We ended up at San Clemente Island. It was really windy and for the most part of the morning, we were just seeing small Calico Bass and some Whitefish. After taking a little break, I grabbed my freshwater bass pole (rated 12-20lb max) that had 50lb braid on it and 50lb Fluorocarbon leader. I was fishing a little heavier sinker than most everyone and I was using live squid. About 30 seconds after my squid soaked, I wound up having a 28 minute battle with a Yellowtail. Turned out be a little over 40lbs. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Those are some good size yellows Tom. Haven't been out in years, but since we were talking about Mahi on a diferent thread , here is one from my younger days. Image Unavailable, Please Login
My Mom's 48 pound King Salmon caught in the Kenai River, Soldotna, Alaska. Summer 2004. She swears that's the only fish she's ever caught. She couldn't bring it in but it was on her line, lol. Maybe slightly above average for a Kenai King. Image Unavailable, Please Login
I sold my bass boat 6 years ago and don’t get to bass fish much anymore. I got a guide yesterday on my favorite lake, Fork in Texas. Sight fishing is my favorite although clouds and dingy water made it hard. I caught the below 8 pounder and a few 4-5’s. Not in my top 10 of all time bass, but about top 20. I use to fish about 50 hours for every 8 pounder, I go out yesterday only 8 hours in a year and get one. Image Unavailable, Please Login
