Can i adjust these to open much later in the rpm curve?

With new aftermarket headers that have no precats and a CS exhaust its now too loud on a spider

Will i damage anything by keeping the valves closed all the time or until very high rpms?

Otherwise i will need a quieter muffler

They open at 2920 rpm and around 70% throttle. Without getting into the Motronic DMEs, not possible to reprogram with OEM parts. You can, however, buy a Capristo programmable controller for setting your own opening and closing points. About $1200 plus installation.

If you choke it down all the time, it will not be much like a Ferrari and will cost hp, torque, fuel economy, and extra heating in the exhaust system because of the increased back pressure.

Try putting the stock exhaust back on her and that and the headers may be a good compromise. Always a good market for the CS exhaust so you will not take it in the shorts too badly.

the CS tips are very short, would a longer tip possibly with some baffling in it help?

Perhaps like the old school ANSA tips on the early cars.

(keeping the valves shut longer looks like a poor idea so far)

or do you know what the quietest after market muffler might be?

eliminating the pre-cats made it significantly louder, maybe 50% louder than just the CS exhaust which was already loud on a spider.

Sounds like you are well beyond the baffle stage. Any baffles that would quiet her down enough would have a similar effect to keeping the valves closed. You could splice in small mufflers in the pipes leading to the main muffler, but your best bet is probably the original set of mufflers.

On many Ferraris, doing one thing to improve sound seems to work fairly well, but changing two things will often make her too loud for most tastes. Often works that way on both the V8s and V12s
