Not Ferrari, hope that's okay. The transmission in my 2005 MB C55 just started acting funny. From a start, it acts like it is in a high gear and will not kick down. Also it is hard to engage reverse.

Of course this all happens will I'm taking my M-I-L to ER.

So the car is out in the parking lot. Can I drive it to the MB dealer (15 miles) or should I call a flat bed?

    I'd say flat bed.

I wouldn't take the chance of breaking something.

Thanks. Typical Germans. I left the hospital about 11:00 pm. Cranked the car up and everything is fine. I took the AC off auto because the car was idling very fast. After that, the car was a happy camper. I know this shouldn't have anything to do with the transmission; but knowing the Germans, they probably put a series of senors between the AC and the tranny just because they could.

The speed sensor on the conductor plate in that transmission is common to fail, as well as the electric connection on the right side of the transmission will leak fluid and can cause crossed signal information. Both of these cause an intermittent issue like what you've described. If you have access to a diagnostic scanner, it will store a fault related to why it started off in too high a gear.
